Still, Brees faced an arduous rehabilitation, with long odds. "Lord, I was just hoping to give him a functional shoulder," says Andrews. "An average athlete would not recover from this injury."

I bet Andrews didn't say that to Drew b4 the operation.

And how do you miss a deep tear of the rotator cuff when you take multiple MRIs before surgery?

Apparently it's possible. I had a friend who had shoulder surgery recently and the damage noted was worse than what the MR scan showed.

same articles came out about Manning and we saw how that turned out

To be fair, Manning wasn't remotely the same QB after surgery as he was before the surgery. It speaks to his prowess as a QB that he was able to turn into Chad Pennington 2.0 on the fly with a completely new team.

Luck always seemed to have an old man's body like Greg Oden. They seemed to have aged physically way beyond their years.

Can't he just take that horse medication, growth hormone and PEDs that Peyton Manning took to keep playing?

Actually this has been talked about all year. In fact, going back to last year people were talking about it.

You're wondering why people think it's far fetched that a 28yo QB with approx $100m left on his contract and who would be forced to return approx $20m would retire?

Ok bud.

One of those rare threads you can bump for 10 years.

No. I’m wondering why people think it’s far fetched that his injury may be career threatening.

Because doctors are magicians. They can fix a shoulder.

Except it hasn’t been fixed. And he’s now going to “Europe”, like it’s one big country, to get it fixed. He may not retire but he may not be the same.

Did Dr. Andrews do his first surgery?

If not why is he in Europe? I doubt Dr. Andrews has stopped taking the NFL insurance plan.

Crazy if he only outlasts Peyton by 1 season after the colts dumped Peyton for Luck.
