Ole Andre did drop 49 bombs and 137 RBI one season.

There are definately more deserving players that got snubbed.

But Dawson did have:
1 MVP (finished 2nd twice)
8 gold gloves
1 ROY
8x all-star

I think it's fricking dumb how some writers refuse to vote players in on the first ballot. Either you are a hall of famer or you aren't. This mind changing bs every year is retarded.

You make it easy to disagree with you. Edgar Martinez was the best at his position. A position recognized by major league baseball. A clutch hitter with a great career batting average, batting title to his name and a clutch double in the ALDS that eliminated the Yankees and put Seattle baseball on the map. I can't agree with saying the best player at a major league baseball position is not hall of fame material.

Sad not to see Edgar Martinez not get the vote. I am a fan of the National League, however, the designated hitter is a position in major league baseball and Edgar owned it. If major league baseball is going to keep the DH position, than players should be recognized for being good at it. Broadcasters can be elected but someone who actually plays in the game will miss out because people don't like their position in the game.

I actually thought Edgar did very well garnering 37% of the vote considering the fact that he didn't play the field for most of his career. His numbers are a little suspicious to me. Martinez hit 11, 14 and 18 HRs in full seasons at age 27, 28 and 29, missed a lot of time in '93, '94 was marred by the strike and then proceeded to hit 25+ HR for five of the next six years. I'm not saying he used PEDS but it's definitely a cause for concern.

I'm not a Braves fan by any stretch of the imagination, but still no Dale Murphy is a fricking crime and a shame now that Dawson is in.

There were four outfielders on the ballot two years ago who had a legit shot at induction: Raines, Murphy, Dawson, and Rice. They failed to induct the two best players in the group: Raines had, BY FAR, the most career value and Murphy had, BY FAR, the best peak. How Dawson and Rice went in before those two is inanse.

And to those who think Edgar Martinez was "pretty good"... you must not have watched must baseball. Edgar was friggin' AWESOME. His hitting numbers are great and contrary to popular belief, he was good with the glove before being made a DH. He was a competent third baseman.

Many congrats to The Hawk. One of the purest and smoothest 5-tool players ever.

I agree. One of the most clutch hitters I've ever seen.

For someone to hint at steroid use a little ridiculous...to justify that statement because of "25+ home runs in 5 of 6 seasons" is even more ridiculous. 25 home runs isn't many at all and hinting at steroid use by a player who sniffed 40 HRs MAYBE once in his career is just fricking stupid.

Yeah, it's nice to see some Expos get into the HOF. Hopefully, Raines is next. As for Alomar, baseball already has a lot of scumbags in the HOF. What harm would one more do? Blyleven will get in next year. No question in my mind.

You have GOT to be fricking kidding me? Plenty of players develop power after they are 30. Edgar deserves to be in the hall plain and simple but its a bunch of old crotchy fricks.

Edgar always scared me more at the plate than A-Rod and Griffey.

You are batshit crazy. Griffey in his prime was the greatest player that I have ever seen.
