The Pharmacist was underrated. So was 757.
On a side note, crazy how they did a tour from West to East. They picked up The Professor in the first city I think and he hung the whole way.

But what led to their demise?

Street ballers don’t fit with the current NBA. Most NBA players now have probably never played street ball as adults or even as high schoolers
Interesting take. When do you think this shift occurred?

Not sure what happened to them, but they were entertaining.
Also they ruined most of the park games I used to play in. Always had some clown trying to do some And1 shite and get mad when you call travel or carry on them

Not sure. Previous poster mentioned that it became a parody of itself. I’m not sure if that’s the answer.
The entire streetball fad has sort of played out now. That tour showcased the talent on the blacktops. I think it also helped those guys gain notoriety.
Now, streetball has become organized into adult leagues. They’re everywhere. Maybe that has been a factor?

well they aren't allowed to as adults.
They definitely did in HS prior to college.

I think it's just evolved to leagues during the summer now.
in NYC you have the Dyckman league and Rucker Park league. In Cali the Drew League.
With much larger sponsors than And1.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think more guys in the league today aren’t coming from the hood. Go back 30 years and you had guys coming from the hood and going straight to the NBA out of HS.
Now, the game is global. That guy from the ghetto is going to be outdone by a Euro who has league experience. And anybody worth a shite is discovered by a street agent right away and ushered into AAU.

Yeah, I could see that

eh in America they certainly are.
If you look at the top picks from last years draft those guys definitely are. (Garland, Zion, Ja Morant, De'Andre Hunter as examples)
It's just with the money that is poured into these AAU teams from Shoe companies they pick up these kids.
These AAU circuits definitely have organized "street ball" tournaments.

Interesting take with AAU angle. But hasn’t AAU been around for a long time? You think it just took a while for the shoe companies to show interest?

Not like it is today

yes
As we've seen from the FBI scandal.

I also think that the NBA embraces some stuff that used to be thought of as streetball. In the late 90's, trying for an ankle breaker wasn't really a thing in the NBA. Guys like Jason Williams were aberrations. Nowadays, it will get you in an NBA.com top ten.
People don't have to watch streetball for moves like this any more:

It makes streetball stuff less special than it was.

You just seen the mixtapes and highlights and whatnot, but Duke Tango used to have to hype some pretty shitty basketball

Sometime after KD entered the league. Not a specific product of KD, but when KD and Lebron became the true stars of the league, the new kids started getting soft as a result of their idols being soft. Especially with stars like Steph and Ben Simmons and Harden now. Nobody would have accused Kobe of being soft. Definitely not guys like MJ or the Pistons. Hand check rule may have had some effect on toughness too
The younger guys in the league, guys drafted 2010 and later, are sensitive and much less street lifestyle. They’ve been treated like stars since they had their growth spurts, and they played in organized leagues their entire lives, all year long. No time or energy to play street ball

Did he point at him at the end?

Can we also get Slamball to come back?

People who fondly remember Slamball are my kind of people.
