The younger guys in the league, guys drafted 2010 and later, are sensitive and much less street lifestyle. They’ve been treated like stars since they had their growth spurts, and they played in organized leagues their entire lives, all year long. No time or energy to play street ball

Incredible take

Sometime after KD entered the league. Not a specific product of KD, but when KD and Lebron became the true stars of the league, the new kids started getting soft as a result of their idols being soft. Especially with stars like Steph and Ben Simmons and Harden now. Nobody would have accused Kobe of being soft. Definitely not guys like MJ or the Pistons. Hand check rule may have had some effect on toughness too

I think a huge reason for their demise in all honesty was YouTube.

No longer did you have to turn on ESPN2 to watch these sort of plays. Instead, you could find them online.

Didn’t think of the YouTube angle but that does make sense.

Somewhat agree. Maybe the streetball culture isn’t what it once was

Being smart or self aware doesn’t make you soft.

And being an in your face street life thug doesn’t make you hard.

He would be if and1 style basketball involved toughness. They hardly played any defense. If anything Harden would excel in it because it’s handles and iso ball.
