How is this not likely?
Pharoah would have made his arse quit? Sectretariat was the ultimate competitor with ice water in his veins. If American Pharoah was challanging him at the Belmont, he undoubtedly would have run a better race.

I admit that I am no horse racing expert ... but, it didn't look like Victor gave AP the whip until near the very end ... and not really that much.
I'm not sure how anyone could know how much AP had left in the tank, though.

How do you know that Secretariat "undoubtedly" would've ran a better race?
Secretariat may or may not be the greatest horse ever (and I'm not gonna even get into that pissing match), but theres no guarantee hypothetically that he runs the same race on a different day. EDIT: Same applies to American Pharoah.
All we know for sure is that the race he ran THAT DAY was arguably the greatest race by a horse of all time.
