American drops American Athletic Conference & AAC for American or American Conference

If tweet fails to load, click here. The remaining Big East schools really screwed up when they sold the name to the Big East basketball schools. That name was so much better than the ultra generic American Athletic and now just plain American.

Still better to hold onto an old brand that technically no longer applies when Joe Blow has actually heard of it vs the switching to something that sounds like a generic store brand at Dollar Tree.

There is no “technically”. They wouldn’t be gaining any extra viewership or media money if it were called the Big East. It would just be another in a long list of dumb curiosities about the current college sports landscape.
