He may be the GOAT, but he would not have come close to averaging 50.

Probably more considering about 3 teams play defense these days and they are all in the West.

We will never see another MJ. The GOAT of GOATs.

I agree. In no way do I really think he would average 50. But it would be very interesting to see what he would do today.

He did manage to average 37 ppg one season and scored 63 against one of the NBA's GOAT teams during the playoffs.

And he had to take 27.8 shots per game to average that. At that rate would have to shoot about 37.5 shots per game.

Yep. The 80's is widely known as the worst defensive era... and Jordan never averaged 50.

Also, this Mourning quote goes to show you that even former athletes say stupid shite about the sport they've played.

It would be more difficult to score today with no illegal defense rules.

just for reference, the difference of 13 points per game is the difference between james harden and ryan Anderson and 57 players. sooooo yea, good luck Michael

Exactly.

Westbrook leads the league with 21.8 shots per game. If MJ shot at the efficiency of his 37.1 PPG season, he would have to shoot 75% more times per game than Westbrook. But with more shots his efficiency would go down (forcing shots) so he would probably have to shoot upwards of 40+ per game.
