I did not know this one
Albert’s senior year, he was walked 55 times intentionally because opposing coaches said he was too old to be playing HS baseball.
He hit eight home runs in 33 at bats.

He was probably shaving and driving in the "9th" grade.

Expert post....a general accusation and absolutely zero other information including. Just a random comment about not knowing something.

I had to start shaving in 9th grade. I was 14.

Late puberty by OT standards, obviously....

How old do people actually think he is? He’s held up remarkably well if someone thinks he’s 3-5 years older.

There was an interview where Pujols accidentally said he was 3 years older than he’s listed as. And it’s been speculated for years within MLB. In fact, execs have said they’ve taken into account the fact that he’s probably 3 years older then his listed age when offering him contracts.

So he was probably 20 or 21 as a senior in high school.

And I think the Royals passed on drafting him because of this question of age.

And, because of the fall out from that, it made KC pay up for Bubba Starling, another Kansas product who retired last year.

That’s KC and St Louis baseball in a nutshell.

That was a big thing being done by Latino players during the steroid era. Miguel Tejada is another one who lied about his age.

Yeah, he talked about hitting his first HR off Dotel, but the math would have made him 3 years older for the age group, or something along those lines.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge Pujols lied about his age. A lot of Hispanic player did then. Are people really debating this?

Dominican baseball players lying about their age?

Holy Danny Almonte Batman!

I loved the defense of that Little League team, saying well the Dominican Republic doesn't keep birth records so they don't know how old they are.

Kids on the team said, "he knows how old he is."

Fernando Valenzuela from Mexico was infamous for lying about his age to get an MLB contract and then saying he didn't know how old he was.

I played high school football in MS from 1986-89. I remember when I was in 7th grade, which would have been the fall of 84, that we practiced with the 8th and 9th graders. We had 3 or 4 9th graders that had failed twice and were 16. Didn't matter. If you were in the 9th grade you played 9th grade football regardless of age. At the beginning of that season I was only 11. In any drill our sadistic coach took no mercy. If you were in line against a 16 year old 9th your arse went 11 years old or not. It's a wonder I didn't get seriously maimed. Long story short, in 1980's MS high school sports if you were enrolled in school you could play.
