Don't see how that would be possible. The players don't own the uniforms, the school does. For an ad to be placed on a school's uniform, it only makes sense that the school would have to be paid as well.

If it's anything like the NBA, who cares.

After typing the above, I wondered what the Bucks sponsor is. And I just found out it's Motorolla. And I've watched a lot of their games this postseason.

How were they gonna stop it?

NCAA almost always lose these court cases.

They’ve been able to keep things relatively stable for decades. They needed to keep standing firm instead of continually giving inches.

So sick of these kids not being able to wait 4 years to make everything about $$$

I have zero interest in buying any non-NASCAR sports apparel that advertises some third party company. If you aren't giving me a discount on the merch or outright giving to me at no cost to myself, then no thank you.

I'm not your damn marketing department.

They've lost almost every meaningful decision in court including the SCOTUS NIL ruling 0-9.

BTW I thought everyone hated the NCAA and their "restrictive" and heavy handed rules?

I remember when the MSB melted about this and how it would ruin the NBA, and now no one notices it or ever talks about it.

No we hated the nonsense and the selective enforcement. Just because the NCAA can't pull its head out of its arse doesn't mean that these new changes are good or any better. In fact it makes it all worse.

Can we just bookmark this thread as the main crybaby thread of people who most likely consider themselves “capitalists” but also whine when it’s applied?

Once again, they rarely had legal grounds to stand on in court.Dont know how any of this was gonna be prevented.

Another reason to despise the federal government - between this stuff and Title IX they’re damaging college sports just like they do with everything else they touch

I notice it. It looks awful. Do you expect people to post about it every NBA thread?

Colleges, like national teams, should have higher standards for representing the brand than a corporation regardless.

There’s nothing capitalist about all American sports. Professional American sports engage in anticompetitive practices. They have an antitrust exemption.

College sports represent government funded institutions.

Big difference between Title IX (which is an abomination) and losing SCOTUS cases 9-0 and almost every other lower court decision.

As much as it sucks at times, there's no reason why athletes shouldn't have the same rights as regular college students.

I’m terms of strict principles/legality you're likely correct.

However i would gladly betray those ideals to restore the purity of college sports.

lol

Have the schools restore the purity first before we start telling the kids to do so

Im just being honest and saying preserving the unique awesomeness of college sports should supersede “doing the right thing”
