I just have a hard time with these balls were so beneficial to running backs and such, but no officials or players intercepting the balls knew there was anything off about them even though they handled them in game.

If you play even the simplest flag football, you'd know it helps you gripping and holding onto the ball.
You don't think of it when you intercept it or grip an opponents, especially when you rarely hold onto a ball to begin with. But if I let you hold two different balls back to back, you'd know.
