2022 Kansas is why college football used to be great in the BCS era. Players and students were excited to go to bowl games after watching a program being built over the years.
Now it’s retool from the transfer portal with NIL money to make the playoffs or your season was worthless and players will opt out to prepare for the NFL.

If you haven't qualified for bowl eligibility in a decade or more, getting there by beating a ranked team for the first time in a bit seems like a good enough reason for it to happen.
