After watching remember the Titans last night, I decided to google the real Gary Bertier (RIP). In the 1971 season, T.C. Williams went 13-0, and he had 42 individual sacks.

I've read a few times that the movie severely undersold how dominant that team was and how good Bertier was. They were considered the best team in Virginia HS history until 1996 Hampton came along.

They were not the only integrated school in their district and they won the state championship game 27-0, not on a last second play as described in the movie.

ncaa also subtracts from the QBs rushing yards on a sack
In the nfl just goes against the teams passing yards

Why do you say that?

It’s like they decided “hey, let’s put every cliche sports thing we can into this one movie.”

The movie embellished a ton of stuff and rewrote the actual story for the most part.

A decent movie, but not true. Based on true elements though.

27-0 doesn't make for great theater

Went down a google worm hole looking up stuff about Sunshine. He QB’d at South Carolina.

His son was a QB at a HS in north Myrtle beach, not sure where he is now

Here’s a link going through the movie and what actually happened. Also has a picture of the actual people.

LINK

And you must just not like movies if you can’t stand things being embellished and made up. That’s pretty much every movie you’ve ever watched.

I could enjoy a movie about Alabama losing 27-0.
