After watching remember the Titans last night, I decided to google the real Gary Bertier (RIP). In the 1971 season, T.C. Williams went 13-0, and he had 42 individual sacks. Holy shite.
Random but wanted to share.

Wow that's depressing. Also though, Yoates lived to 94, hell of a run.

Lots of teams ran the option. Is a tackle on the qb considered a sack even if it was a running play?

That's a good thought, I'm really unsure. The bio also said he had 142 tackles in the season, but I cant find tackles for loss.

On TNT?

Did the same thing while flipping through.

Went down a google worm hole looking up stuff about Sunshine. He QB’d at South Carolina.

His son was a QB at a HS in north Myrtle beach, not sure where he is now

Sacks are an entirely overrated stat. Fight me.

IIRC he was teammates with Mark Dantonio at South Carolina.

As I’ve grown older, Remember the Titans has shown itself to just not be a really good movie.

Yes.

False, at least in the NFL.

QB has to intend to throw a pass or be forced out of bounds by defensive presser on a passing play.

Tackling the QB on a designed run behind the LOS is a TFL, not a sack.
