We want MLB in Portland, mates. Being NBA and MLS only is the pits.

Interesting history on the Athletics

They played in both Philadelphia and Kansas City from 1955-1967 and didn't turn up in Oakland until 1987.

They didn’t become the cubs until like 1903. The franchise also started in 1876, so the map is wrong there.

I saw that as well. Reggie Jackson must've been some sort of Mandela effect.

The Phillies beat out the pirates by one year. The baseball team in Philadelphia made the name Phillies their permanent name in 1890. The pirates became Pittsburghs permanent name in 1891

They got browned but weren't able to keep their history

But their championship banners still fly at Nats Park. Apparently DC likes to keep them as city-won championships or something to that effect.

The franchise started in 1870 and nickname changes does really make it a different franchise.

There were two separate franchises named the Senators. The first moved to Minnesota and became the Twins in 1961. They gave Washington a new expansion team that same year that eventually moved to Texas and became the Rangers in 1972. From 1972-2004 Washington didn't have a team until the Expos moved there in 2005 and became the Nationals.
