2001 Miami had the talent (and the right mix of defensive personnel to contain the option, which is why I think they would have beaten 1995 Nebraska).

1995 Nebraska had the on field results.

Ed Reed vs. Joey B would be fascinating.

These threads...

The game and the athletes have evolved and progressed so much during that time. Go back and watch a little of the games from those teams in the '90s...Seriously, watch some of the Nebraska defensive players and their secondary. 2019 LSU would score at will on them. I'm not denying that their offense wouldn't score, but it would be a route. Their secondary wore neck rolls and spat for crying out loud. Do any of you honestly think they could cover Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrace Marshall, Thad Moss, Clyde... . If you were somehow able to match the two teams up, I seriously think LSU could put 100 on them.

Do you honestly think LSU could stop Lawrence Phillips, Ahman Green, Tommie Frazier?

Also you do you know Nebraska's entire starting secondary + 2 backups were drafted right?

Good point. The 2019 LSU defense were gashed many times on rushing defense. I know the athletes are different between the two teams but I think it would be a high scoring game…

More times than they could stop us. I truly believe we'd score every possession. I'd give Nebraska 28-35. LSU would score 50+.

This was their starting middle linebacker. Imagine him, out in the open, trying to cover Clyde or Thad Moss...

Florida
Had a pretty wide open offense in 95 and Nebraska didn’t have much problem stopping them. And Nebraska would eat up the clock and rush for at least 400 yards on the LSU defense.

based on what? And under what rules?

Ole Miss ran for 400 yards against LSU what makes you think they could stop Nebraska at all?

Also Nebraska pass defense was much much much much better than LSU's run defense

You've gotta remember LSU fans didn't start watching CFB until 2000. That team let Vandy score 38 yet somehow 95 Nebraska would only get 28-35?

This.

1995 Nebraska only played 12 games, 4 against top 10 teams

2019 LSU played 15 games, 7 against top 10 teams

Because we took a half off against Ole Miss? We averaged giving up only 120 rush yards per game.

Again, "these threads...". Based on what? Visual observation, talent, common sense. What rules? What are you even talking about? There is no way of knowing; however, I'd bet everything that LSU would crush them.

LSU just game off an emotional win against Alabama, and got up on Ole Miss 31-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. I submit that, with the game being out of hand, LSU became laxed and let off the gas. Did Plumlee have a great game? Yes, but the game was never in doubt.

Were they? Who were they playing consistently with a great passing offense? Again, the game was different back then. Case in point, look at Nebraska's offensive philosophy. There is a reason only a handful of teams, typically service academies, run that style of play. It doesn't work anymore. The front 7 of defenses are too big, fast, and strong.

It's not even LSU. Again, the game, and players, have changed. For example, I would bet 2011 Alabama would beat Nebraska's skull in. Do you honestly think that offensive style would work against that Alabama team?

Gave up 400 rushing yards to Ole Miss yet Nebraska would get shutout. Okay.

I always hate this stat when you’re including 7-5 “Top 10” teams.

It's universal though, so all teams benefit from it

“5 of the final top 8 teams” is a much more impressive stat imo.
