Give me an 8 team playoff. 5 P5 conference champs, highest rated G5 champ (maybe with some requirement they're in the top 15 or something), and 2-3 at large teams.

Let the conferences decide how they want to crown their champs.

Look, even our current model doesn't have a path for every undefeated P5 team to make it.

Best option for sure. I would say the G5 team would have to be undefeated and in the top 12.

4 undefeated teams from power 5/Notre Dame would definitely keep them out. They wouldn’t have a space in a scenario like: SEC champ 13-0 Big 10 champ 13-0 ACC champ 13-0 Notre Dame 13-0 The real question is whether they get in over a one loss power 5 champ. Are they getting in over 1 loss conference champ Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma, etc?

question who gets in an undefeated ACC or Big 12 team

ACC is hot trash this year

What I want: a 16 team play off with all 10 conference champions plus 6 at large.

16 is too many and it would de-value regular season too much since almost every P5 team that finishes 10-2 or better is going to get into the playoffs with that many at-large bids.

8 is perfect IMO. 6 automatic bids (Power 5 champs and top ranked champ from G5 conference) plus 2 at-large. Gives everyone a fair shot to get in, while still making every regular season game important.

Saw in another thread where their combined opponents record to date is 5-14 or something like that. But man I hope they make the playoffs sooo bad lol

Edit: found it

Overall opponent record:

Notre Dame 16-9
Clemson 13-10
Penn State 13-10
Alabama 12-12
Georgia 11-11
Kentucky 11-12
Ohio St 10-14
Oklahoma 9-14
West Virginia 8-11

Their only chance is to schedule a “Top10” OOC game, and win it. And they don’t have that on their schedule this year.

And none of those teams are going to work to schedule it.

The problem here is that “Big” OOC games are usually scheduled 3 years or so ahead of time. By the time UCF might be able to get such a matchup agreed to, they won’t be at the peak they are now. Much of their staff will have moved on to P5 Jobs.

I say let them in. Screw the “rule” about not factoring in the previous season. If you go undefeated for two years...you should be one of the four. If they get blown out in the first playoff round, then everyone who thinks G5’s don’t deserve a chance can pump out their chests.

Cincinnati game should tell a lot but if they want to make the playoffs they need to schedule a top25 team.

What if a Top 25 team won’t agree to schedule them?

Some of you act like this is just so damn easy to do, and especially when these OCC schedules are penned down several years in advance. When much of UCF’s current schedule was negotiated, they probably had no clue they would have a team this good.

Nope. Not happening. It would be good if people let go of the conference auto-bid ideas.

Any system where winning every game in front of you for two straight years does not get you a shot at a championship is a disaster.
If the NCAA awarded an FBS title, this would be a great point, but it doesn’t. The CFP championship means as much as we fans say it does.

Not a chance unless every conference champ has 2+ losses and AAC wins virtually all of its remaining OOC games. UCF’s opponents so far are 1-4, FCS, 2-3, & 2-3. You have to figure out to have a schedule in the top 100 if you want playoff consideration.

Do what Florida State and Boise State did—go on the road. If you want a tough schedule, you can make one.

Not really. Cincinnati is a paper tiger that was almost beat by Ohio, and whose best win is winless UCLA. USF and @Memphis are the only notable games on UCF's schedule.

If they go undefeated, put them in. You want UCF to go away? Beat them.

I think they'll lose at some point this year, though.

Too many. Six max, but not without restructuring the conferences.
