you don't continuously blast and paint steel.

Actually, yes, you do. The Golden Gate Bridge has had that being done to since it was built.

Every year the workers start on one end, work their way across to the other side, then start over. Every year.

replacing rusted through bolts is a lot easier than replacing intact bolts.

You're insane if you think that. You have to drill out the bolt with a diamond tipped drill, remove every trace of corrosion, and then rethread the hole slightly larger than before. Then document where you drilled out, because that new bolt is now larger than the original bolt was.

Clueless statement.

USF is lucky they have an NFL stadium available to them and they didn’t have to pay for an erector set.

It's 10 years old and it's outdoors. Steel is gonna rust to some degree

Welp anytime you need too do "emergency repairs" it's bad IMO.

Well, the worst of it must not be captured in these photos

I've seen way worse condition structures that have stood in their condition for decades.

Being in a high salt environment, they should have put an anode bed in to help mitigate some of the corrosion. It doesn't take much thought to figure out that corrosion will take place there.

I would assume, or at least hope, that part of the $14million is going towards corrosion mitigation. It will happen again if not fixed properly.
