Savagery led by Bill Musselman's Minnesota Gophers vs Ohio State. Scary.

Must have hit him just right. Because it looked more like a love tap.

Kneeing someone in the balls is a good way to get kilt.

That was a really dirty move. Like something you'd see Ric Flair pull off in a match back in the day. Help the guy up...bam knee to the balls.

Somewhere in there was Dave Winfield.

Was there any reason for the attack? It all seemed so premeditated.

This is a good example of how things are NOT worse now. shite like this happened all the time back in the day - just way less cameras around to record it.

Obviously racially motivated with thugs like Behagan and Brewer leading the way.

Both should have been arrested and jailed

I admit that I'd never heard of this before today. The 2 guys that kicked the OSU player in the crotch & head should have been banned from the NCAA for life.

Winfield was just as bad throwing haymkers on OSU players while Minnesota fans were holding/ attacking them, but wasn't caught on camera. This brawl was far worse than the Malice in the Palace.

Minnesota’s basketball program should’ve been given the death penalty by the NCAA for this.

Musselmann, who started all this, should’ve been banned from life from coaching in the NCAA.

But people were a lot more thick-skinned back then and moved on.

Behagan

Fun fact - Behagen played a few seasons with the New Orleans Jazz. Later he was convicted of stealing money from an Alzheimer's patient.

Yeah, that should have just been some sort of felony charge against him.

Again, anyone who thinks "morals were better" back in the day is just not aware of actual history. To be clear: these were white college students aiding in potentially deadly assault for sport. And we clutch our pearls these days because kids text instead of calling each other.

Why lol? He was defending his teammate with the guy who took a dirty cheap shot. That was the right thing to do. He reacted. Can't really fault him for stepping in and also running from a mob of opposing players bearing down on him.

It’s so strange to me people don’t get arrested and spend a lot of time in jail for stuff like this. The Minny player stomped on his head and put him in ICU for multiple days and caused legit damage

The entire incident was eye opening for me. I did not expect to see such behavior from the 70s. And I mean from all the people involved.

I mean I understand letting certain shoving and pushing in a fight during a sporting event go, but head stomps? Yeah, ugh.. arrest them.

Interesting thing I saw is Luke Witte ended up a minister? Seems like a really good guy.
