Pippen came close to taking the Bulls to the NBA finals without MJ. He is, if anything, one of the most underrated players ever. He could have been the best perrimeter player on just about every team in the NBA except Chicago. If I created a 12 man team and could choose from anyone who's ever played in the NBA, Pippen would be on that team.

you are not a cleveland fan if you can't appreciate lebron turning a perennial loser into the number 1 team and one of the most popular teams in the league. He's done more for the city of cleveland than anyone since jim brown.
Thanks for briefing me on the history of Cleveland sports and my status as a Cleveland fan. The Cavs have had better teams than this one in the early 90's.
I just dont like the guy and what he did.

oh? really? they finished with the best record in the league?
They aren't about to set a franchise record for wins?
What were they before Lebron came? I guess they were just drafting no. 1 because they felt like just picking first.
I don't expect Drew Brees to root for the Hornets. nor could I give a shite. Nor could I give two shits if he showed up at a hornets rockets game with a Olajuwon jersey on. I would think less of Lebron if he showed up and pretended to like the indians and browns just to suck up to people.

People also forget about his defense. I think he was a better defender than MJ.

you're probably the only person in cleveland who considers himself a cavs fan that thinks this. either that or you and your retarded friends.

I am sorry, but this one is a bit of a reach. Pip was a fantastic player, but if I am picking 12, hell, if I was picking 30, I wouldnt have Pippen on the roster. If you are going the non All Star route and want guys that are very good complimentary pieces, possibly, but the way this reads is Pippen is in the upper crust all time in the league, and that isnt realistic.

Tracy McGrady
Please. Tracy McGrady and 'greatest' shouldn't even be in the same sentence. That guy has never stayed healthy. Also, Imo he doesn't make anyone around him better. The Rockets are doing quite well without him.

Mcgrady had a 5 year stretch where he was one of the top 3-5 players in the league. He was on pace to be on this list, but injuries hurt his case

If Shaq can be named top 50 after 4 years in the league, Lebron can be after 6.
I hate this logic, it just compounds past errors.
Putting Shaq on te team in 96 was a joke, at that point he did not belong.

That's not how it reads. I didn't say that Pippen is one of the 12 greatest players in NBA history, but if I wanted a coplete team and I got to choose 12 players, he would be on that team. I don't think you have been watching basketball that long if you think Pippen was overrated.

since when is Pippen a "non-Allstar"? (and I know you didn't post this.)

If you're asking based on ability, of course he's one of the best ever.
However, like I said earlier, Adrian Peterson looks like he could be one of the best RBs in NFL history based on his ability currently, but if he never plays again, he isn't going down as one of the best. You have to accumlate certain things to be in that realm beyond what you feel they COULD and WILL be.

Dont recall saying Pippen was overrated, and I have been watching basketball long enough to know that Pippen is one of the best second fiddles of all time, just not a guy that is going to carry a team long term. Nothing wrong with that either. After your clarification, then yes, Pippen would be a good multi tool to have on the bench, but he isnt in the same class as Magic, Bird, Jordan, Big O, West, etc (excluding the centers as it is apples and oranges).

I feel bad for Tracy, because when he got to Orlando, people were seriously torn between he and Kobe for the best perimeter player in the NBA. The guy was an incredible player before he got to H-Town. He was on pace to be BETTER than some of the original 50 IMO.

Thats a horrible example.
2 year NFL player
6 years in the NBA
not the same thing

Well, what else do you base it on?
again, its not the top 50 players with the best stats or championships
in nearly 6 years, he's been one of the best to EVER player the game.
in a vacuum, 1 on 1, he compares to just about any of the greatest players to ever play.
