quote:You mean, reported concussions.
Do you know he hasn't had a concussion since 10th grade?
quote:Think about the absurdity of you, the message board poster, calling that name to the dude who pretty much dominated other 260 beasts all year. Nah really, think about that.
I understand. This just wreaks of bitchassness

quote:none of that makes it any less ridiculous for someone to tell another person what they should do with their lives, especially when it comes to a decision made regarding safety issues.
pretty sure tens of millions of people who have never gone to war have debated Achilles' choice over the course of man's history on earth
this is not some new debate. it's as old as recorded human history

he's an NFL reporter and has inside connections to plenty of players. he understands NFL life and the pulse of NFL players better than any of us do
If he wants to say HE wouldn't have done that, that's one thing. But to blast the guy, that is laughable and ridiculous whether it's an NFL reporter or an actual NFL player.
Boom or myself aren't saying he made a great decision, taking hte opposite side which your comments insinuate, we're saying let the man decide for himself based on the information he has, again for himself because he knows more about his plight than we or Schefter or another NFLer does.

quote:Technically speaking, no he cannot relate to what a player is going through. He may understand it more than you or me, but he certainly can't relate to it, especially if we're talking safety/head trauma type issues.
Meh. Belichick didn't play in the NFL, but he can relate and handle players pretty easily

Football has been played for over 100 years, now all of a sudden players are afraid for their safety? I dont get it.
Have not heard the Junior Seau story and all the other ones as well? You haven't heard of any of those?

quote:I don't understand what you're taking exception too, to be honest.
That he used football for a free education and money and now all of a sudden cares about his future? He knew the risk when he started playing. Im sick of all these guys acting like they dont know the risk of playing football
You don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Just because he's never had a reported concussion in the NFL doesn't mean he isn't having similar issues. It also doesnt mean maybe he took the time to educate himself on the issue, what's so wrong with that?

quote:Who do you think has obtained more information on the health and future of Chris Borland playing football, you or Chris Borland?
Yeah I know it's just so absurd. The guy spent his whole life developing and training for pro football and instead of maybe playing a couple of seasons or getting to his second contract he retires for fear of injury.
I feel like he was a bit presumptive.

Factor in federal and state taxes, the agent's cut, and cost of living in northern California and you would be worried about money pretty quickly.

A perfect example of the wonders a free $100k+ education can do for you. Gets a million dollar head start on his career
But yeah we should pay these guys in college too

You should at least try to make a good point.

Are you really associating those 2 things? His "education" had nothing to do with the. Ill ion dollars he received.

So if I get a free ride to LSU and major in engineering, work as an engineer for a year, and then decide to start my own business, am I obligated to give LSU or the state their money back?

Do you even know this? This isnt baseball or soccer. playing football isnt a hard concept, there are guys that are illiterate that made millions playing it. Jimmy Graham is a prime example, Dude never played football and is one of the top 3 players at his position.

Haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone mentioned that this kid comes from money? His father's a partner at a financial firm.
So the kid has options, options that 99% of other NFL players don't have.
