And your proof that the league was in cahoots with Donaghy?

you are constantly changing your argument
I never changed my argument once. I am a firm believer that the league is not completely on the up and up.

Are they fixing the games or aren't they?
Everyone's definition of "fixing" is different. By my definition, I would say it's fixed to an extent. It's not about determining who wins the game...it's about what creates the most viewership...which is coupled with making the most money.

which is fraud and hence illegal
Nobody can prove a holding call etc in a court of law. Things like what happened in the NBA was a rouge official and was dealt with that way. All the NFL has to do is say "we have a strong desire to have a competitive and entertaining product." Nobody can sue them for that. They know what they are doing.
quote:
they son't care about the outcome of any one particular game, then it makes no sense to say they are fixing games.
If, for example, they are calling more penalty on a team with a 21 to 3 lead in hopes of getting that game to tighten up...that by my definition is fixing a game to an extent. In other words, they don't want Jacksonville and Oakland to lose 42 to 3 every week. It's bad business.
quote:
There is no incentive to do that since the TV money is the same whether the SB is decided on the last play or ends 43-8.
The NFL is a financial monster no doubt. That said, they will always want the most competitive product possible o the field. The game itself doesn't always need to be close...It needs to be close to the spread. Gambling and fantasy drives this crappy league.

Hey don't go hating on worldstar. If it's one thing worldstar does, it keeps it real.

If it weren't relatively easy to use regression analysis to derive your own point spreads, you might have a point. However, your argument seems to be that the NFL forces games to adhere o spreads rather than having the games naturally do so.
Because my method has been replicated amd tested by sports statisticians, I'm going to go with my theory that the people setting the lines are good at their jobs rather than the theory that games are fixed.

LINK
Read this article and you will see another concrete example of how games are affected by "outside influences." The product is not as pure as you think. Earlier I posted a link showing an owner that openly gambled on games. Just open your eyes an you will see things that will blow your mind.
PS: The players know the spread of every game they play. Bye now.

An owner who relinquished control over his team over 40 years ago.
Eddie DeBartolo was forced to remove himself from owning the 49ers because he was friends with Edwin Edwards.
And an article about wanting to show all of the commercials during a blowout proves nothing regarding gambling's influence.
You have yet to demonstrate that the league manipulates the outcome of games.

And Jeff Fisher soon after would lose his job as Titans head coach and be out of Football for a year.

This particular example is not about gambling. This is an example of clear manipulation of a game by corporate interests. You can't possibly claim that this is example doesn't show tampering with the game.
The Pittsburgh game discussed earlier is an example of gambling interests influencing the game. There is no way in hell that touchdown should have been taken off the board. There is no way after it was reviewed that it should have been taken off the board.
It's all around you...

SF fan complaining about the refs, give me a break.
Anytime someone gets within 5 yards of one of their receivers, they start the throw the flag motions. Harbaugh is constantly on their arse and working them pretty hard. Refs are only human. I'm sure they get tired of that stuff.

If you saw the LSU vs UGA basketball game. .. you saw a perfect example of how refs manipulate games. .. just saying

I don't know about it being rigged, but that was they worst officiated game I had seen since the replacement refs.
Every single ref on the field should've been fired after that game.
Also, I would not be surprised if the league wanted games to go a certain way and had refs make calls accordingly.

I don't have to watch some worldstar video to know that that game was rigged. I watched the game live and it was definitely rigged. I hate the 49ers too.
