I mean, yes, his dad was nuts. But there isn't any stories of him beating him half to death as he struggles to do his last sit up or anything. The worst that should result from a parent being like that is your kid just saying frick you, I'm done and burnt out. This guy is a mental midget. His dad didn't train him in college, he was just like any other high profile guy at a USC type college. What third string QB hangs out with Charlie Sheen and does drugs all day? Hell all that's fine, just don't bitch about sucking arse at football.

That was the whole point of the first part of the doc. He was the "Robo QB." His father focused 100% on training and never treated him like a son. You didn't know anyone with over the top strict parents who turned into an alcoholic or druggie in college?

Yeah I knew some. But none that had what this guy has. There's a point where a strong, mature person can realize his dad is a douche bag and just says stop. I'v known people who turn to drugs because they have nothing else. This guy had the world in the palm of his hand and shite it away. I know it's easy for me to say all this sitting on my couch and never going through what he has. But there are people who have overcome twice as much as this guy has and succeeded and not turned to drugs.
