Not enough white star QBs and too many ads/distractions

2019 was the last great year for the NFL.
But here is why
1- too many overseas games being played. The NFL is American.
2- Colin Kaepernick.
3- Covid and the fact the people like Tony Gonzalez were telling us we were going to be ok. Hang in there. Thanks millionaire Tony. Covid Changed sports for at least 10 years.
4- Drafting players like Bryce Young in the first round. It’s almost like everyone knew that was a bad pick - yet it happened anyway.
***5**** Rule changes. WTH are we doing on kickoff???

Nope, the 2020 covid season was surprisingly strong. 2021 was good too. 2022 is when it started falling apart, especially the prime time games. JMHO

Agreed. Plus college football is a much better product. The NFL is so structured it’s pathetic. The games all start at noon and all go to halftime at the same time. The halftime highlight shows are a joke. And most of the time it’s boring…

They have a huge flag problem. They need to simplify some of this shite because some good games are being completely ruined by the amount of flags that often have no impact on the play itself.

The NFL is a rigged, garbage product.
I watched part of the Giants Steelers game last Monday night bc I needed the Pitt WR to get 7 points. It was obvious by the middle of the first quarter the game was rigged for Pitt. I was fine with it as that helped my fake fantasy team win, but I couldn’t watch more than 20 minutes.

I do think people have lost faith in the game.
Penalties decide nearly every game in some manner.
Also, people really don’t like the Kelce’s.

Refs probably a big reason for that.
I love you guys that apply your own petty biases and assume everyone is the same
Maybe the Jets decline is because the Yankees and Mets made deep playoff runs and the Jets have been struggling. Nah must be the refs

Ironically both Pats and Jags have their QBs.
I'm a part-time Jags fan, and I'm not sure the Jags do have their QB. Lawrence makes stupid decisions every game. Jax was in prime position to knock off Philly yesterday, but Lawrence insisted on putting the ball in serious harm's way.
I'm not sure there's a QB that I really like at the top if the draft this year. But I can make a case for Jax to prepare to move on from Lawrence.

I listen because I like Deuce.
Also because there aren't all those campaign ads on the radio broadcast.

Lots of bad football teams this year. It's a tight race for the #1 pick
QB play rough, WR drops are at an all time high. Just bad offensive football. The gambling/Fantasy Football is saving the ratings from plummeting,

I was told the sport was more popular than ever.

it’s a bad product.
half the league is completely unwatchable and another 25% are pretty meh.
We get 1 maybe 2 interesting matchups a week.

It’s this, the NFL’s secret sauce is parity - “any given Sunday”. This season there are a usually high number of just truly awful teams who are not worth watching.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think the spread concepts making their way to the NFL has been good for the sport.
In college it creates big plays and fun shootouts because you have guys making mistakes and coaches who are more willing to let their players make mistakes. The NFL is such a risk-averse league that you end up with a bunch of quick screens and out routes 95% of the time.
I think QBs coming up in spread systems like basically all of them do now isn't good for their development either. Basically you're drafting a guy based on measurables and arm talent and hoping you can teach him how to play big boy NFL football. A lot of spread offenses have you reading literally one guy and making a decision pre-snap on 90% of plays, and now you can have the OC literally telling them via headset where to throw before the snap based on alignment so they aren't even really reading the one read they were making anymore when that happens.
We all saw that run of QBs Jimbo put in the NFL. Jameis lasted a long time but he is a journeyman.. the rest busted extremely hard. His offense at FSU was entirely based on reading one safety or LB.

the NFL reigned that back a ton. My biggest beef with Goodell was actually over COVID, not race relations stuff.

That’s probably because it is, ratings fluctuate from time to time but it still massively out draws any other sport.

Games are becoming very hard to watch uninterrupted.
Commercial breaks, flags and reviews are a huge problem to their watchability.
You barely get 2-3 minutes of actual football without one of the above. It's fricking atrocious.
