I will say that some of the decline NASCAR has had is self inflicted.

Most of it is. They alienated their base trying to be national. Ashamed of being a southern thing.

Yep. They alienated 99% of their fanbase.

Yet you start a thread

So which one is it?

Crosby can be argued intelligently that he isn’t too 10

But you’re worse than Toad on homerism.

You’ve flip flopped in the thread so just asking which opinion you had

Sorry for jumping down your throat. It came off as being snarky and if I misread it I apologize.

You are wrong on Sid but that's fine.

I personally never saw Pearson race but I am a fan of the history of the sport and I know just how good he was. If he had had the $$$ that the Petty's did he would be the unquestioned GOAT w/8-10 titles and 300+ wins. Dale was every bit as good and had the titles on Pearson, but that is arguing semantics.

If you were to hold a gun to my head I would say Pearson is tGOAT, but not by much over Dale. Thus why I have them 1A and 1B.

The sport hasn't been the same since he died. I grew up near Talladega and went to all the races with my dad. The Dale Earnhardt following was amazing to see. I was really too young to realize what he meant to Nascar at the time, but was definitely old enough to realize what ramifications to the sport his death would bring. It died with him.

What he pulled off at Dega for his final win was just SICK!

Dale takes the field at Dega to school.

I was lucky enough to be at the next Daytona race that summer after he died.

The Junior win. I still tear up watching it.

It was divine intervention.

That wasn't scripted. Don't be silly. Sometimes, when humans are dealt w/tragic loss and have to revisit it, they have a focus that is so locked in that nothing can get in their way.

That, and it was divine. That I believe 1000%

He wouldn’t have died if he wore his seatbelt.

Dale wouldn't have minded his detractors in here, like he once told Jeff Gordon, "It doesn't matter if they're cheering or jeering, just as long as they are making noise ".

It's debatable as to who the best is but Dale was certainly among them
