Lost the game when they went nascar on 3rd and 1 with 6 minutes to go. End up with illegal procedure call and a 3rd and 6 that they don’t convert. Coaches so often out think themselves! frick! Might never get this chance again to make a big splash season.

We rushed for 7.7 YPC. Definitely felt like we could have just ran power all the way down the field in that drive. Tried to go too fast and had a false start. Still, if Eli Mitchell catches the ball that hits his hands he gets the first down on 3rd and 6 and this is probably a different game.
This is just gonna be a fricked up year all around so I’m just hoping we can rebound and make the SBC Championship game. I’ve been predicting us to possibly lose in all of our conference games. It’s not like we get to just play shitty Big 12 teams all year.

Agreed, had many other chances to make plays on both sides of the ball and didn’t. I just have a special hatred for trying to play too fast. Tempo is one thing, but trying to snap it too fast seems to be less productive than coaches think it will be. I see more pre snap penalties or unblocked defenders because they aren’t lined up correctly which screws up blocking rules for lineman. Just a huge blown opportunity to have a special season for a G 5 program.

We still can win the Sunbelt championship, which is something we’ve never done. Going undefeated over the course of 12 games is a daunting task, so the chances were extremely small anyway.

Really no shame in losing to coastal, was a great game.
ULL is still the favorites to win the west.
My complaint about them last year remains the same for this year, run the damn ball.

Same here.
If we can get back to committing to the run with Mitchell, Ragas and Smith, we’ll have a good shot to meet Coastal again for the championship game. It was always extremely unlikely we were going undefeated anyway. I’ll gladly take a SBC championship.

They really were proud of it too! As if they’d be ranked in a normal season with all teams playing lmao
