I’m trying to wrap my brain around how a kid has all this skill yet stand out stars like Stewart, Harvick, or Johnson never performed like this on road courses. What does he do so well that 90% of the field can’t?
CZ absolute beast on the road courses
I remember CZ at COTA in cup this year would’ve been competing for the win, but he kept getting taken out or had problems. He drove through the field with ease every time he restarted in the back.

His dad claims he was comparable to antonelli when they were in karting together. That track house equipment has to get better though. Spire seems to have overtaken them on the Chevy pecking order.

Great race! And I was so glad the last stint finished under green.
Love was so heartbroken to lose but all he had to do was stay composed, stay low and make the corner. These two drivers are friends and I don’t know if CZ woulda taken him out had he stayed low. I at least would have tried.
But damn, Conner has such good brake control and gained so much going into corners. And Jessie did a good job managing fuel but blew the last corner (and honestly the 2nd to last one). Gray was on same fuel strategy as Love and he got 3rd, and ran out on cool down lap thats how close it was. Love will think about this one for years.
Hope today is as good. But even if it is, we may not think so if TV production and booth aren’t as good. I really am enjoying NOAP series.

MRN has fallen a long way since the days of Joe Moore and Barney Hall. Mike Bagley was good as a backstretch/turn announcer but as one of the main guys he’s annoying. He’s a total radio goob with his played up radio voice.

SVG is fricking insane! This is incredible to watch

He’s steadily getting the hang of ovals too.

SVG put on a clinic after his last pit stop! Damn, he is so good at road courses.
Points
Also, there was a huge wall hit and no caution. Was this Nascar trying to help Gibbs knowing a caution helps SVG with better tires? I scratch my head at how they call cautions. Regardless conspiracy that broke the barrier wall.
And how about that gustnado

Anyone know what the Bubba and Bell argument was about after the race?

As an SVG fan I love watching him dominate.
He’s driving the fan base to want road courses off the schedule.
Need to go back to 6. Not go down from 4. I was happy with 6 when I was a Harvick fan. Road racing is more interesting to watch. I like strategy though.
They need to do something about this car though. A road course shouldn’t be hard to pass.

i enjoyed the race today. helluva drive by svg, i was hoping CZ would hold on but svg absolutely dominated.

That drive through the field is legendary. Why that’s lamented and not celebrated is mind-blowing to me.

I'm not so much hung up on the number, but I only want tracks that suit stock cars. Fast, flowing tracks like Watkins Glen. Not technical tracks with really slow hard braking zones. I don't care for COTA or the Roval.

Don’t think you have to worry about the roval coming back any time soon.
COTA is fine. It’s just a track that presents a ton of different challenges.
Road Atlanta would put on an amazing cup race if Cup could ever run there.

I like all the road courses. They are just more exciting because drivers have to make moves. There is fuel strategy and then pure driving. What SVG did was amazing. Also not lost is him pitting knowing he would be way back in the field. Imagine the emotions of that and then to not make a mistake like speeding on pit road or crew messing up stop. Thats some real control too.

What was the quote from SVG?
Whether we win or not this is badass.
