This is pretty bad. Someone at setup shop is on hot seat. We know Chase can race road courses and this result for all 4 drivers shows a massive road course weakness in the organization:
For the first time since Sonoma in 2005, Hendrick Motorsports failed to place a driver inside the top-20 on a road course in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Kyle Larson was the highest finishing of the team's four drivers, in 23rd. Elliott was 24th, Bowman 25th, and Byron 36th.

I think San Diego road course is during F1 off weeks. This would be something huge if it happened

Max at San Diego would be epic for NASCAR. Everyone knows his name.
Won’t be a Supercars guy. They race that weekend.
At what point do we axe the all star race as a weekend? Make it a 37th points race and move the “all-star exhibition” to the Wednesday before the 600.

If it happened then some big sponsor would be paying a first born to make it happen. Nascar would throw in a second born. And TV might throw in the whole family.
I doubt it happens but just imagine SVG and Max at a Nascar road course. Man, that would be epic.

Where you think the next street race is after San Diego? I’ve read Denver could be an option.
I’d like to see one run at the lakefront airport in New Orleans. There’s a legit layout there.

San Diego is a one off for Nascar
I think Indycar is looking at more NFL complexes as possible road courses after the success they had at Jerry World race

Yeah. I’ve read San Diego is only this year. I think St. pete and Long Beach will be options in the future. I’ve heard Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cincinnati. There are ways to get creative if they allow it.

If San Diego goes well then perhaps Nascar would do a random road course every year. Cities would help pay expenses since it would only be one time not every year expense. Lots of possibilities.

Yeah. Not sure why people push back on street courses. Damn near every racing series globally runs on them. Why can’t we have just 1?

Does nascar use the same street course walls at other locations like F1 does?

I don’t know of any same street venues. They did Chicago which was new and San Diego will be on base and is a one off.

Would like to see trucks and O'reilly do 3-4 street courses a year.
Go to medium sized city's year to year and return to the ones that are backed by the local population and have good layouts.
City's that are a bit away from the tracks. Would get more people interested in the sport.
Would love to see one in Louisiana, South East Texas, Arkansas, Maybe Mississippi gulf coast.
Most of these cities would have an open area that would be easy and less expensive to set up.

I’ve said the lakefront airport by UNO would be a good place for a “street course.”
Not many permanent race tracks going up anymore. Better off doing street races anyway.

Anyone worried about Larson? He hasn’t win a race in a year.
Posted on 5/12/26 at 9:23 pm to OU Guy
Not really. He’s got multiple runner ups and he’s right there with the top guys in stage points, so he’s running up front. Hopefully what the 9 did at Texas shows Hendrick is catching up to Toyota at the mile and a halfs.
I’ll say the 5 ends up 5th to start the chase. They’ll have a shot.

Nascar and reporters like to hide their numbers by design. They always have an excuse. But its the car that sucks, and NOAP car is actually a racing car by comparison and their ratings are up all year.
Comparing to the same exact week last year, this was down from 2.3m on the same weekend last year, which was Kansas

Found NOAP bit not the comparable
O’Reilly Series: 1.013 million (The CW)
Thats a big number, usually Cup is 2.5 to 3 times higher but the gap is closing. Fans see NOAP as better plus its on CW which is not as much TV boxes compared to Cup/FS1.
If I fond the comp I’ll post because I’m curious but like Cup it won’t be same track comp.
