Saw a thread on stadiums piping noise in. Do you all feel Nascar pipes in audience noise? And car noise? The crowd after opening ceremonies and start your engine? The engine sounds?
Just curious. I don’t think the car noise is piped. But Nascar goes to great lengths with their TV partners to hide low fan turnout. Even came up with the every other chair paint is different color so it looks like more fans. And rarely pan to all stands unless camera is a mile away. Only pan the start/finish line area fans.
If they go to those lengths it’s a good chance they pipe in fan sounds too. Just a guess

If tweet fails to load, click here. Cup down 15%, O'Reilly up 27%. is it possible that the fans are finally not watching because the Cup car sucks arse and they were told “if you don’t like it don’t watch”

Tell me where it originated then. Nascar was first to use it many years ago. I’d love to see you prove someone else started it. This goes back quite a ways how long you been a fan?

Wait, I thought it was about wins, not championships?

Eta. This was a concept created in the early 60’s. This was not some nascar invention.

Of course there have been “painted” seats around forever. And sports teams have used them to decorate stands in school colors. Even doing different colors for sections or sets of rows.
Nascar was first to use every other chair different color to make stands look fuller to the TV eye. Thats what I’m talking about. No other sport used painted chairs to mask bad attendance prior. It was in early 2000’s.
Nascar grew big time and tracks increased seats. Once its peak waned then Nascar too seats out and covered sections with ad tarps. Then they did the alternating colored chairs, I want to say Charlotte was first don’t quote me in that. They still use all 3 methods. Remove seats, tarp seats and have alternate colors. When viewed from distance on TV it looks lime fans.
Anyways, stay and post if you like Nascar. We all have different opinions and it’s fun to go back and forth. I’m probably the most “sour” fan of the group concerning Nascar and its direction over decades. It’s still got some great moments like Larson leading then shuffled back to 12th and winning all in the same lap at Dega. That was masterful race-craft and those are the moments I enjoy and carry me thru the bad parts.

Also one little tidbit. I go back and upvote every post (not mine) because we have a serial down voter who has done that to every post for past 3 years. I think it’s that Sir Winton dude just guessing, but it doesn’t really matter.
I just do ups to cancel the auto downs. It’s all in fun because I don’t care about votes it has zero bearing on my posts and is solely for the younger generation. And it cancels the serial voter out lol. Whoever it is has wasted 3 years for nothing lol.
So even if you hate my guts and call me a bastard, Imma give you an upvote to cancel the serial voter out.

I’ve said all year he went the same exact path as Chastain. Exactly the same. Chastain was hated by every driver and it caught up to him. Now he struggles for the most part and drivers don’t cut him any slack. All drivers need slack, when cars are so same if yours is a tick better you can spend 20+ laps trying to pass someone who won’t give an inch or they can fight a lap or twi and let you go. Thats all based on experiences with drivers. Chastain learned hard way.
Hocevar will learn same lesson but his response will be interesting. He never apologized to the driver either. And I didn’t see a 77% discount at his online shop

Ya, he ain’t gonna change. This goes back to trucks:
Seth Eggert
@SethEggert91
Since 2022, @CarsonHocevar has been:
Fined a combined $150K for retaliations, held 2 Laps for retaliation, docked 25 pts twice, & suspended by Spire.
Fined $50K for a behavioral penalty.
Had to go to sensitivity training, fined $50K by his team.
That's a combined $250,000 in fines in the past 18 months.
Held 1 Lap for intentional self-spins on two different occasions.

He’s the Hocevar hurricane of destruction for a reason. I predict more of the same for 2027.

Lol Hocevar hurricane I like it.
Thing is the few beat writers tried to anoint him just like Chastain. We really have the weakest reporters in all of sports. But thank Nascar for that they blackballed so many over decades that few want to do report. Nascar makes life hard on reporters who won’t toe their line. Hard cards pulled and other games.
Which is why I try and find X reporters and fans who report about the sport but are not paid or beholden to Nascar. Its hard to find good reporting. Jayski used to be the place to go because he had all the links to so many reporters and stories. When he sold out to Espn lots of readers left. He’s still around but nothing like the heyday when he was the first place to go for racing news.
Getting to my point, with so few good reporters it gives podcasters like Denny so much say. And the few in industry drive the narrative Nascar wants. Denny is ok but his interest is Toyota and not Nascar per se.

Should have a separate points competition for spins and wrecks for bottom 20 in the points.
Spin 5 points
Wreck 10 points
Wreck knocking out title contender 25 points.
Total cautions caused 25 point bonus.

I’d like to see a bonus of 5/3/1 pts given each race for the team with best pitting time for 4 tires and fuel stops.
Min of 4 stops needed to qualify. Avg pit stop times with those criteria and give race pts to team/driver. If crew was penalized then that stop time doesn’t count
Reason I say driver is it matters how they position car in stall to maximize stop times.
It would reward teams for quick stops and can have some end of year bonus money for top 5 pt scoring teams given to pit crew only. Driver gains value by adding extra pts and pit crew is rewarded for great work.
Some races would have no pts given out as you need full stop gas/tires.
