Don't think he was talking about Fontenot. He has been gone but maybe Easley

yes, and I had totally overlooked Fontenot, and agree he was their best player in 27'.
Easley is #2 and is now at Prairieville High.

He is cleared to swing the bat and can toss up to 30 feet. I don’t think he will be cleared to pitch this year. He signed with UNO so no need to risk it.

sucks, would have liked to see him at barbe

Doyle will be one of the favorites in their division.

One of my former players is a freshman. Sits 85-87, was in their rotation last year as an 8th grader .
Played SS as well

thats huge for doyle. Could ride him for a series opening win against almost anyone in that division

No, not at all.
It's very possible I'm missing someone from the 2027 St. Michael class that came in as freshman like I did with Fontenot, I'm not an insider. Of the ones I know about, an argument can be made that Easley was the #2 or #3 player in that class, a good step behind Fontenot. My original comment was about the fact they get decent players from outside their "district".

For AP Teams.
Walker has some dudes at the plate but might be low on pitching but don't know who they have coming back.

Prairieville will be competitive like they were last year. Will get some wins against some better teams

Live Oak will be young and competitive after losing a bunch of kids to college and Catholic. Know they have 1 pitcher coming back not sure on the rest.

Dutchtown should have a good hitting team and has 2 plus 90 guys on the mound. Lost some pitching from last year but has younger guys filling in. Will be tough to beat in a 3 game series with the pitching.

St. Amant - young and competitive but with a new coach that should put them in position to win more games

they have 4 or 5. Sanchez, Mcclure, Gisclair, Morris and the catcher who signed with LSUE. 3 of the guys above were pitchers that did well. They will have some young guys who should help. Freshman class for them is really good and think in a couple years they will be really good.

Dutchtown has Johnson how will touch 90. But who else is going to throw 90 on that staff? I don’t see it.
But they are a senior heavy team that should have a good year. Favorites to win district.

Taylor Tunnard. He was 88 as a sophmore then had TJ surgery and missed last year. he is back healthy and has thrown 2 innings this year and looked good. Velo will be 90 plus if healthy.

Tunnard was low 80’s his first start. Didn’t hear velo in second appearance. I hope you right and kid is 90’s and has a great season. Nothing worse than coming back from that injury. Pulling for him.

Pulling for him too. He was 85 his first outing off a pocket radar. Once he gets comfortable I believe 90 will be attainable. Don't really trust those pocket radars.

I'm guessing you are plugged into STA sports... lol...
How much impact on STA baseball do you think the opening of Prairieville High will have long term? Has to be more than zero.

I mean I’m sure there will be an impact. Just having less kids attending your school, cuts down on talent. The talent is being spread out now, so I guess there won’t be as much talent at one time, like there was before. But I think AP is pretty deep and rich in baseball talent so I doubt STA is affected that much long term.

I think all 4 of the schools are going to face the same challenges, just at different times, so I don’t think one necessarily has an advantage over the other either. I feel like most of the impact to STA will be in this immediate short term. Prairieville is the new kid on the block, so those that have the option of choosing the new school or staying with the school they’ve always gone to, will probably want to try something new. But of course this is a short term thing, so boundaries will come into effect again, and everything will even out once again. Just my opinion though.

I think your right. Dutchtown will feel the effects after this year. STA and Pville will have the better teams for the next 4 years for sure based on the talent that is going there. But agree it will even out.

You at the game?

I was told all pitchers pitched an inning....How did Dutchtowns 2 first pitchers look. would assume that was Johnson then Tunnard. Curious.

Prairieville will effect STA for sure. But these first 2 years have had a much greater effect on Dutchtown. Almost all Prairieville’s 28 class would be at Dutchtown.
Dutchtown about to have some tough years for the first time in program history.
