West Monroe in a big 3 game series with Ruston, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. With wins, WM looks to wrap up the district championship.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Zero earned runs on the night, and you lose. That’s a rough one. If Ruston wins tomorrow they’ll win the district with the same record, but the head to head advantage. WM wins and they take it out right. The game Saturday doesn’t count for district, just power points.

It wont matter once you run into Barbe.

A former softball coach? Wouldn't be terrible. Skills can translate. As long as they know how to coach.
The (SMHS) former softball coach? No way. . . and that's from the horse's mouth.

Tough loss for the Rebels. They just don’t have the talent outside of Cupit to make a run.

Regardless, I don't think BM will hold onto the 1 seed in Select. I just hope they hold onto #2.
If both BM and Catholic win out, it will come down to about a hundredth of a point between the two. Just doing some back-of-the-napkin math, the difference between the #1/#2 seed may come down to the Epsicopal versus Covington game.
It's probably not mathematically possible for #3 Curtis or #4 Rummel to catch BM or Catholic if both win out.
BM has two games left versus Karr and St. Stanislaus (MS) - they should win both comfortably.
Catholic has Zachary, Episcopal, and Westlake left. They will roll Episcopal, but Zachary and Westlake are both good teams.
The biggest thing to keep an eye on in Division I Select is the Captain Shreve, Jesuit, Acadiana race in the #6-8 seed spots. All three teams are close to one another in terms of Power Rankings heading into the last week of the season.

Thank the split lol… we’re struggling to get in the nonselect playoffs but if we were in select we’d be hosting round 1
There was a proposal to end the split in baseball this last January, It got shot down 67% to 33%. 5A Non-Select voted heavily against it.
Current Top 12:
Barbe - No
Sam Houston - Yes
Zachary - No
Hahnville - No
Dutchtown - Yes
West Monroe - No
Benton - No
Prairieville - No
Walker - No
Sulphur - No
Mandeville - No
Central - No
FYI . . . Chalmette - No

They wanted to do a lot more than that… they wanted to make the playoffs double elimination tournaments (think college regionals)

It might cost us but I’m glad we’re ethical compared to this
something else that i noticed yesterday while looking at this district was that they choose to not play everyone. there are 4 good teams and 4 terrible teams. looks like the 4 good teams got together and decided not to even play the terrible teams in order to protect their power rankings. i know that each individual district can determine how many times they play each other, if they have a district tournament, etc. i have never seen a district vote to just completely not play half of their district. maybe it happens more often than i am aware of, but that was a first for me. i know districts are mainly in place for football scheduling, but what the point of even having them anymore? it should be a statewide rule that you have to play everyone in your district at least one time in every sport. i just think its a pretty chicken shite thing to do the way that they did it. you aren't going to get away with doing that in most areas.

Districts didn’t just get insignificant in and of themselves… years of rule changes and power ratings made them insignificant

agreed. i was just so surprised because i have never seen a district done that way.

BM beat Karr this morning, so they will be co-champs with the winner of the Rummel v Jesuit game tonight.

We shut out Slidell 3-0… now we have Rummel on Monday night in a de facto state playoff game at Suarez

Rummel won't use either of their top 2 arms but they swing the bats well. You're going to have to score some runs.
