I too saw that Terror team. They won something like their first 50 games before losing, playing mostly SUPER Majors NIT’s all over the south, won something like 8 of them. Lost in the finals of the Elite 24 WS to an East Cobb Astros team full of D1 guys too. Agree, have yet to see any youth team like them ever, and all from south LA. Coached by ex MLB Scott Sanders
The 12 year old team was really good. Like one of the better teams in the country.

The 13U team was insane. Every player on the roster played college baseball except 2. One was Chase Vallot, who was a first round pick out of high school.

The other was Trey Quinn, who played in the NFL .

We lost to them 4-0 and it felt like we won the world series
quote:

That Lake Area Pirates team was a force, all south Lake Charles kids, won state every year from T ball to HS, won a Majors Natty at U11 I recall.
Yeah, I think they lost to the Terror in the U11 state championship. If I recall correctly, the AAA division played a full pool play, elimination, normal style tournament.

The majors division (Terror and Pirates) was just a best of 7 series

That pirates team should have won the LLWS if Gunner Leger was able to make a routine play at first against Hawaii in the semis. Quinn/Fontenot were unhittable in Williamsport.

ETA: Just went and looked. Pirates beat Terror in a best of 3 in the 11U state title.

13U Terror went 74-3, finished the season ranked No. 1 in the country, won 14 of the 16 tournaments they were in (including 2 14U tournaments), and lost to East Cobb in the Elite World Series Championship.

They basically combined the two teams for that 13U season, then added the best pitcher from the New Orleans area, best (imo) player from the Baton Rouge area, and then cherry picked a couple more kids. I played with most of them at one time or another, but that team was insane.

Wow, had no idea they were THAT dominant (winning 14 of 16 tourneys). That roster was stacked! They were already battle tested before they got to HS!

And did he ever even make it to AA in MILB? shows you just how hard it is.

as for pitching my velo never got much better after I quit having to ride my bike everywhere I went.

One of these is not like the others...Beating up on lower class teams isn't going to help once they get into that district. They should plummet once district starts.

he is like 5'7 140. Big kid but not close to the biggest in the age group nor is that why he throws that hard. Its elite athleticism and relative strength that gives him elite level explosiveness.

he will be big time for Catholic. Same with the lefty in that class they are getting who is one of, if not the best, pure hitter in the state.

You know which one Eason is right away when you watch Camp. He's certainly not the biggest in the age group but he's probably one of the most put together. Who is the lefty you're referring to? Another kid on Camp?

Opelousas Catholic has to be in the mix here regardless of ranking

And I was told this week that this division is still not 2 out of 3

Not sure why I thought that was changed

You going to be surprised when a lot of the 13u kids throwing 80 will be sitting 82/83 their junior year. I can't get over how many kids never increase the velo after 13. Some kids lose velo when they get to HS. I also know some 2027 and 2028 kids that killed 80 plus mph stuff at 13 and 14 and can't hit JV pitching right now. It's wild.

I don't know what it is, but every time I hear about a team or player being some elite level, when I actually see it in person it's never as good as the hype. Either the kid is wild, doesn't throw as hard as people said, pouts, etc. I always walk away feeling like it was a bunch of BS. Has anyone else had this experience?

West Monroe hosted Northwood last night and won 11-3. Brady Guillot with the win. Went to Calvary tonight and won 6-1. Carr with the win tonight. Host Brandon, MS tomorrow. I’m guessing Cupit will get the ball. Were supposed to play Bryant, AR Saturday but it was cancelled due to weather.

BM lost to Pearl River Central yesterday 9-3, beat Destrehan today 6-1.

Play Hahnville tomorrow, then Central Lafourche and HL Bourgeois on Saturday.

District starts against Holy Cross on Tuesday at Rooney and at HC on Thursday.

Yep. Both absolute super stars at that age. Hez was a 2 sport star at Parkview, and ended up being pretty good at UNO, but CJ unfortunately peaked at about 13. Was good in HS, but realized Delgado would be the peak, and just went and got his education after 2 years there.

I personally don't remember Vallot, but given he was a first round pick out of STM, he was clearly next level at a younger age.

The younger Sanders brother who got some run on that team despite being 1/2 years younger ultimately ended up going the furthest (from those Terror teams) in baseball. Debuted last year for the Pirates.

To make you feel even older, I think Corey Avrard has a daughter playing basketball at Chapelle and she's a bucket. I think he has 2 sons that were dudes until college. I believe 1 son steered more to football.

I am Corey's son's age Granted Corey had his oldest at like 18.

What made me feel really old was seeing the youngest son sign with (I think) Stephen F Austin last year as a football player. I remembered him as the 3 year old little brother.

Not if U-high doesn't get their shite together.....giving up waaaay too many unearned runs and the bats have gone ice cold. It's starting to become a pattern.

Barbe beat True North Classical Academy out of Miami(pbr #25 in florida) 7-0 and beat lutheran south out of houston (pbr-tx #25) 4-1

Sam Houston beat Beaumont Kelly- 6-1 and Austin Westlake 3-2

Sulphur beat STm 6-1 and beat Sapulpa out of OK 7-1

STM beat Sapulpa out of OK 10-4

and it makes for a very very interesting bracket. Barbe secured the #1 seed and will play the #4 seed Sam Houston in Sulphur at 7 tonight. So we get an extra match up this year of the 2 heavy weights.
