That’s what all top programs do

Would you say since 96 the boys from gently have under achieved?

Should've been WM's first ever title. Bases loaded, no outs, 0-0...didn't score. Lost in 197 innings. That one stings, but that's baseball. Felt sorry for those guys. Thought they had that one.

i can agree with that. i guess by inconsistent i mean more couldnt get over the hump. seems like Jesuit or Rummel is always pulling ahead come playoff time.

but like i said before, im looking from outside the nola circle too

Dutchtown Beat Central 4-0.

Was at the game unreal pitching performance by both Guidroiz and Johnson.

Guidroiz 5.2 innings 10 ks 4hit, 3 BB 1 ER
Johnson 7IP 11ks, 6 hits, 1 BB 0ER

Both were hitting 90 on the mound. Big win for Dutchtown.

They've just flat out choked a few years with the LL kids. Base running, pitchers losing it, errors, etc. Last year, Catholic was just the better team.

yeah that’s been the case more than just last year

Catholic just has a natural advantage because there aren’t as many high-level schools in the BR area, where BM has to compete with Jesuit, Curtis, HC, Rummel, and others who have dudes they might want

last night St Louis walked off Kinder in extras at McNeese. Very Exciting game. St louis will be a force come playoff time. Lots of seniors and pitching depth.

From WM Facebook:

Cupit brothers combine on a 2 hit shutout as Rebels beat Dutchtown 7-0.
Senior Bradyn Cupit was electric, striking out 14, walking none, and only allowing a single in 6.1 innings. With one out in the 7th inning, he handed the ball to his younger brother Brentsyn, a freshman. Brentsyn allowed one walk and one hit before ending the game with a strikeout.
The offense was just as dominant with 12 hits.
Peyton Starr- 2 hits, 3 runs
Ryder DeJean- 2 hits, 1 RBi
Brodie Taylor- 2 hits
Carson Hawsey- 2b?, run, RBI
Kade Thomas- hit, 2 RBI

Friday 6:30 vs St Amant
Saturday 10:00 vs Prairieville
12:30 vs Live Oak

I guess that’s why he’s the only commit from LA in this class to LSU

Impressive regardless of opponent, much less Dutchtown, a usually solid program

Agree, this is their best team in several years. They play Barbe on Monday. It's early, but Barbe's offense looks to be a bit better this year than the last two. If that holds, they are also going to be very tough to beat. Last year, they scored 9 runs in six playoff games and still made the semi-finals against the eventual champs, Sam Houston.

I was at the game...He was unhittable last night. Impressive outing. Even when he got behind in the counts he came back.

What baffles me with West Monroe is how every sr is almost 20yrs old and all freshman are already 16. Seems like every year you look up kids and are like wtf.

I'm guessing they are all held back in 8th grade?

Used to be you had to make a choice before 6th grade. They reverted back to 8th grade last year. All schools here do it. Ouachita had a ton that held back last year. Ruston has a lot as well.

Our best two players, Ty George-Tulane, and Trez Davis-Washington, weren’t holdbacks. Sam Turner wasn’t nor Kedrian McNeil. Those were pretty firmly 4 of the best 5 on the team this season in football.

Gotcha....here in ascension parish they don't allow it at all unless you have some pull with the school district. I know of 2 here that have done it.

We have some really young players, like Tunnard who pitched last night who is only 17 and some others who are 17yr old srs. But parish won't let them do it.

That extra year makes a big difference.

One of the benefits is maturity in the soph season, allowing the player to gain experience early.

I kinda wish I held my older back, held youngest back but had zero to do w sports…helped him socially and he is better at sports, although not super athletic!

not at all. Being older and more mature really makes a huge difference.

The sad part is that with all these PBR/Perfect game promoting these kids on how great they are......then you know they should be bc they are almost 2 yrs older than the normal kid in their grade.

I know if it was able to be done in Ascension almost everyone would utilize it. I know I would of.

It is and can be if the kid just fails or misses enough days
