The sad part of the debate is that no one is talking about the aero package which is a success and the drivers having more room to race with the smaller cars

Agreed. The PU shite show is overshadowing what i think is a legit step forward in vehicle design.

Interesting from a major pub

I've said this many times. Any eco push for racing is a complete irrelevance. If you want to kill track attendance and viewership, go electric.
When I'm at a track I want my ears to bleed as the cars thunder passed.
I want cars reaching ridiculous top speeds, not slowing down before the braking point.

Instead we get the sound of loud hairdryers and battery boost buttons
Meanwhile the sport moves around the globe via fleets of 747s, cargo ships and private jets… yet it’s the 22 cars that get hamstrung for the sake of ‘net zero’

F1 was always huge speed, loud, brash, full of bravado and outsized personalities, dripping with sex appeal and the hint of danger…and it’s being reduced to a bland, inoffensive, politically correct, corporate product.

If the backlash against the ridiculous 2026 formula is what leads F1 back to sensibility, then thank you 2026!

FIA and Liberty executives need to go watch Driven.
That's what we want.

Think the reckoning is going to come soon. Seems like the DTS wave is just about over. Pair that with the money grab to Apple and the paywall they've created that will help push out a lot of those casual fans and it seems inevitable.
They need to pivot and focus on their core demo and that demo, for the most part, doesn't want formula-e type bullshite.

People are forgetting how much influence the manufacturers had in this rule set.

Which is funny bc most car manufacturers are now delaying and turning their backs on the EV push.
Fighting mentioned Porsche having a part in the new rules, which is comical bc they announced 2yrs ago they were going to end the Caymen 718 being naturally aspirated only to do a 180 late last year and say they would not go EV on it.

I say a team should be disqualified if they don’t use net zero planes starting next year. It’s time to get started working on hybrid or fully electric planes.
In the meantime, we must force people like Toto and Verstappen to follow Hamilton’s lead and sell off their private jets and ride share or take commercial airliners.

Porsche always have more input than they should into the sport. The fans want Porsche in so bad and FIA/F1 keep trying to lure them in by giving them input. Porsche keeps getting bs rules in place.
Conspiracy theorist in me says that Porsche want to sabotage F1 to make the racing series' they are in more appealing. They built an F1 v6 hybrid engine back in 205 or so for their LMP entry. It was a larger displacement though.
Should also note that LMP1/LMH/LMwhatever are hybrids. The manufactures want to build hybrid for the technology. F1 is pushing that boundary. The improvement from race 1 to race 2 is noticeable. The spec will likely continue to improve as there is more feedback.

Yall are a lot.
Verstappen UPGRADED his PJ last year didn’t he?
They all have Yachts and most all have PJs.
And yeah, automakers are having to back away from “their” plans to go mostly EV because all of the governments that were telling them they’d HAVE to be 100% EV by 2030-2035 have changed their minds now at the last minute.
The EV mandate and what automakers have done to try to meet it the last few years has cost them a collective ~$100 billion.
The only hypocritical thing they’ve done to me is try to increase this battery % in this formula while taking out the one “free energy recovery” system they had with the MGU-H. Especially considering Mercedes and Porsche road cars now have their own hybrid turbocharges(MGU-H) in cars such as the 911 GTS, 911 Turbo, and AMG C63, and A43?

I have no doubt that these teams will eventually get these regulations down pat. This year will probably be a year of development and hopefully by next season we get more reliable cars ans better racing

Ackchyually, almost. The Valkyrie is a NA V-12. It has a small battery for startup, but does not rely on it for racing (the road spec does utilize hybrid tech). It's also one of the worst cars on the grid, albeit one of the youngest cars. Sounds awesome. Looks awesome. Not as fast or reliable as the hybrids.

Will still be formula-e lite....

Is the Formula-E talk just driven due to batteries or is there some sort of correlation between this F1 and FE?
I watch both and the comments seem like a slight on FE but I can't figure out why.

I'd be fine with 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 cylinders, no turbo, turbo, supercharger, or no supercharger just get rid of the electrics.

Yes, the batteries and currently relying on 50/50 split... Which sounds like they are considering 60/40 and reducing reliance on the batteries later in the year.
Also the comments from the formula-e co-counder
quote:
"The only thing I can say is, as I always say, I'm a big fan of Formula 1," he added. "I definitely believe that they decided to go for certain regulations that probably are damaging their spectacle and their show a little bit.
"I think they are getting closer and closer to us. We do not have exclusivity, but we do have expertise already on that."
"In my opinion, as a fan, I think they are making a mistake. I definitely believe that they should stick to what they are, to their principles."
