Clipping is still there on the back stretch but not as bad. Just sounds like a slight downshift.

Baku will be something to watch with that front stretch.

FP1:

Ferrari was a little disappointing!

Red Bull struggled.

Williams is a dog.

Man, I don't want the races to be dominated by four Mercedes-powered cars.

It's a bit late but I'll be able to watch sprint qualy here on the west coast.

Merc is dominate

Max is mad. I love a mad Max.

Lewis over Charl is kind of enjoyable. I want to see an internal Ferrari fight.

George is going to lap cars in the Sprint.

Didn't watch, but looking at the times... jesus christ.

Merc is 7 tenths faster than the next closest cars in all three Qualis.and RB is 1.5 seconds off the pace.

Lando in P3 was good to see. Maybe getting a little more comfortable.

Agree and the fact that he hates this form of F1 with all the battery bullshite and the car not being competitive is going to lead to some epic moments in press conference.

Would be hilarious if mid season he just walks away and goes and does alternate racing.

Just watched the sprint quali highlights....

Anyone else putting Ferrari 1/2? They're bringing the flippy floppy wing, that thing plus maybe getting the strategy right might just put them up there.

We need Ferrari to step it up. Cant have Mercedes run away with this.

Like I said earlier, its absolutely ridiculous they were nearly 7 tenths quicker in ever session and outdid RB by 1.5 seconds.

Hell, the fact that they are walking Mclaren after last years performance is mind blowing.

I'll say it again, Max fricked up not going to Merc last year when he had the chance, although I still don't think he'd be happy. He doesn't want to drive formula e style cars.

Could be a boring year if the other 3 big teams can’t figured out how to catch Mercedes

Yup and if we lose all of May with cancellations in middle east, just gives less time for teams to figure it out and make an impact.

Hence why I said if F1 cancels those, they need to figure out something to fill the gap. Will basically have 2 summer breaks this year.

It’s basically been confirmed that Mercedes provided their customer teams with the engines but that they did not give them the same engine software. Customers can’t figure out how to extract the same power that Mercedes has unlocked.

Williams has been the biggest disappointment. They have had the same people in charge for 3 years now and have told everyone they didn’t care about anything but 2026. Now they are saying their car is 28kg overweight and because of budget constraints they might not be able to get rid of it all.

Been reported that Carlos Sainz Sr. begged Jr. to join Audi over Williams.

I don't think this shocks anyone...

Also, I haven't seen this reported from the official F1 or Sky F1 accounts yet.

Yeah, basically sold a tool but not the handbook to go with it.

Not sure how I feel about that rule. Not sure if sharing that info puts more on Merc or if it restricts some teams. Merc personnel is imbeded with each customer teams so it feels that info flows back to Merc.

Unless you believe the RBR line that the engine team and race team are separate.

If both are called off, that means no racing for an entire month?

Yes... maybe Max will go find another series to drive in that he can enjoy.

IndyCar races at Long Beach in April (their only race in April). Long Beach is IndyCar's "Monaco" race. A street race that has been very popular since its beginning as an F1 race decades ago.

If Max wanted to sample IndyCar, this would be a great event to give it a go, even if a street course is not ideal. Ganassi or Penske or Andretti would find a chassis for him and there are enough random personnel around to create a team for him (think of Indy 500-only teams and the personnel they'd have available). The availability of an engine would probably be the only hangup.

I wish the logistics and scheduling would have allowed them to race a 2nd GP in Japan during the Bahrain or Saudi weekends...similar to the covid season.
