I think they will make some changes sooner than later. All the videos coming out of the cars losing speed while at full throttle on the straits is a bad look. Looks like it has started to affect the only thing they care about, the money.

And it’s in Spanish.
“ F1's stock has fallen more than 8% on the New York Stock Exchange since last week and more than 17% over the last 6 months since more details emerged about the problems with the electric power units.”

When I watched FP1 yesterday on Apple TV I had access to all the onboards, telemetry and map feeds, plus the Sky feed. That disappeared with FP2. Am I missing something?

ETA: NVM, the alternate feeds are available only during the live broadcast. Don’t know why there’d be a difference.

Translation

quote:

FIA removes zone 4 (T8 to T9) of active aerodynamics opening. Some drivers and teams expressed concern over loss of downforce in those corners under certain conditions, such as following other cars. The actual front aero downforce data is lower than simulated. It's a safety issue. It has been communicated to teams this morning. They will have to make changes to car setups. It will be even more complicated in terms of energy management.

Well, in the end, the FIA communicates that this decision will not be applied after receiving the teams' comments this morning. Everything remains the same as yesterday. It will be evaluated again after free practice 3.

The 2026 F1 season is getting off to a bad start with the electrical silliness (cars slowing down on the straights, Aston Martin's inability to do more than a couple of laps at a time), and in the US, the move to put F1 behind a paywall.

But once the action really starts with the first race, the hysteria may die down quickly and the season will just move on as usual. We already expect Aston Martin to not finish the race. However, if other cars start having electrical issues during the race, F1 is really gonna be in crisis. The pundits and YouTubers will be talking non-stop about how bad F1 is now. It's gonna be an interesting year.

I know a lot of people, including me, wasn’t happy about the Apple deal, but they have done a great job so far

I thought the cars looked fast last night but I was just watching the normal broadcast. But if qualifying ends up being a shite show I do think they will make adjustments.

I think the engine/battery part of this formula is silly. I hope it’s short lived. Aero might be alright. Fuel might be alright.

Shouldn’t have gotten rid of the MGU-H

The complaints aren’t about the product, it’s about paywalling the sport when it’s grown so much in the U.S. and making everyone pay additional for it, unlike espn that was already in every cable package around.

If you had the F1TV package like a lot of fans, it’s cheaper this year for you

Holy crap, George's average lap time in FP2 over a long run absolutely slaughtered the other guys they compared him to. I think it was Oscar, Hadjar, and someone else. George was like a second a lap faster over a long run.

I think they are 4 or 5 seconds off of last years poll.

When are yall going to realize that the fans that had F1 TV is small compared to viewership in the US.

2025 F1 TV subs in the U.S. were 200k whereas ESPN averaged 1.3m viewers per race. …

So again, F1 is cutting off their nose to spite their face by paywalling it.

I would think losing 2-4 races from their profits is the more likely cause than power unit concerns.

Longterm putting the races on a virtual PPV in their fastest growing market didnt help their stock.

Exactly… it isn’t a quality issue, it’s a quantity issue.
