the implication is that a battery pack should last more than one complete race weekend
Thats why I asked. Was trying to decide whether AM is just fricking stupid for only bringing a total of 4 or if they are fricking stupid for using shitty batteries.
It sounds like the latter and bringing 4 total is likely what all the teams do.

Anyone figure out how to watch previous sky feed episodes in this new season?
Apparently in the F1TV app you can change the audio source to English International feed
If anyone cares.

I'm sure the battery assemblies are custom designed by each team to fit their chassis design, but the quality of the assembly is not the issue, the vibration is just so bad that any battery assembly would be in danger of failing. I did see a report that they attempted to adjust the packaging somehow to reduce the effects of the vibration on the battery.
But yes, I had the exact same question. They've known about the vibration problem for a couple of weeks. Why couldn't they construct additional batteries in time for Melbourne? I guess it can be a lot of reasons. If they didn't anticipate this problem, they thought two batteries per car was enough to start the season. I assume the issue is lead time on specific components such as the carbon fiber shell, custom Li-ion cells, etc.

I'd guess the lead time on a battery is pretty significant.

i saw rumors AM is already considering a new engine supplier for next year.

How could they not? Honda delivered a terrible product and don’t have anyone that knows anything working for them to make it better apparently.

It’s gonna get ugly. Some of the comments AM has made will not be taken lightly in Japan. I won’t be surprised when the lawsuits start being filed. Was wondering if they would end up changing engines manufacturers mid regulation. Seems almost silly to do with a budget cap tho. They will have to spend all their money to completely redesign their car while other teams are moving forward.

And to think, this silly formula was designed to keep Renault, Honda, and get Audi in the sport.

They would almost be forced to use Ferrari. Mercedes already has 4 teams and Audi and RB-Ford are too new to be supplying other teams.

Im sure I'll get bashed for this comment, but the team should have to manufacture their own engines... Its so weird seeing Mclaren, Audi, Cadilac, etc.. whom are car manufacturers not running their own shite.

Audi built their own and Cadillac is supposed to as soon as they can right?

Caddy is for sure working on an engine program. They’re only using Ferrari until there’s is spun up. Probably 2-3 years. I’m sure there’s reports on timelines.
Speaking of caddy. I wanted to order some caddy swag to support a US team but everything has such a large Tommy Hilfiger logo on it I just can’t do it.

Check out redbubble. Quality can be hit or miss but almost all F1 swag is pretty shite quality in my experience.

I got some nice Cadillac swag in Vegas without the TH emblem

Easy to forget. They’ve seemingly done it in secret because there’s been No (English language)News about it.
We’ve got Bill Ford and Jim Farley doing media tours over whatever Ford added to the Red Bull powertrains.
Honda’s leadership ready to commit seppuko over their failure so far.

What in Gods name have they done to F1? I think I pocked a good year to stop watching. Keeping up some online but this series is a cluster from all accounts. And likely to lose at least 2 races off schedule, will sponsors request to pay less if so? The Apple deal already killed the US market. Total bafoons running this show

Interesting. If my math is right that’s about 2 full cycles per lap.

One needs an F1degree to figure it all out. Fans just want to watch engines revving and racers racing without all the gidgets and gadgets they are trying. No fan will ever understand all this gibberish. Its a total disaster.
