I just read this was the first win by an Italian at Monza since 1966.

As F1 spectators we should be grateful to the FIA for their wisdom and foresight in instituting these new regulations that ultimately gave us one one of the best grand prix weekends of all time at an all time classic circuit.

Italian Jesus has done incredible in WEC since leaving F1. I'd love to see him get a chance back behind the wheel of an F1 car now that he has some confidence. He had some bonehead moments in F1, but he was also driving a Sauber that was a shite box.

Hell I was just about to ask what happened to Zhou but apparently he’s a reserve driver for Cadillac this year.

Hope Chuck is OK but it’s always interesting to see how another driver does in a car.

Have to think if Leclerc is getting in the car he will push himself to race.

With this schedule he may have a few races hampered by a concussion or something.

OK, with the correction of the Monaco results restoring Gasly's penalties, here's how it shook up TDF1's results and standings.

The only TD F1 players affected points-wise for Monaco were Lsut81, YOURADHERE, sorantable, and Rendevoustavern.

dg42.net/TDF1/race-results.php?race=6

Lsut81 rose from P4 to P3, gaining 3 pts.
YOURADHERE rose from P6 to P4, gaining 4 pts.
sorantable dropped from P3 to P5, losing 5 pts.
Rendevoustavern dropped from P5 to P6, losing 2 pts.

In the current championship standings, the only change in order is that jefforize rises to P16 and sorantable drops to P17.

dg42.net/TDF1/index.php

It's worth noting that with the change in Monaco race results, jefforize rose from P12 to his favorite and familiar P11 position. jefforize now has four P11 finishes this season, and a P12. jefforize has five points-paying finishes, five finishes just outside of the points, and only three bad results. If these were real F1 results, he'd be fighting to lead the midfield. But in this competition, since anyone can win races (more similar to IndyCar), his lack of podium results is what is keeping him mired deep in the midfield.

Surely if Charles is held out, Bearman should be put in his seat. It wouldn't make sense to see Red Bull put a current driver on the grid into their empty seat and not do the same thing. Giovinazzi would be super rusty and slow. He would be the next Luca Badoer.

I thought the same thing about Bearman. Maybe the Hadjar situation is making it more complicated. I think Haas would rather put Yuki in their car for a tryout for next season but he’s already in the racing bull.

?? Max Verstappen on the current regulations and how it limits driver ability

"In the history of the sport, normally the driver that is the most committed, the latest on the brakes, earlier on throttle, committing in the high speed, they get rewarded, because you just gain that time in the corner.

"But now you're constantly thinking about, 'In this corner I might have to hold in a bit. Go later on throttle. Or brake earlier. Or lift off. And then I have more top speed.' Stuff like that. It's so unnatural. It's so not how it should be.

"No disrespect. And I hope no-one picks up on this. But look at Yuki [Tsunoda]. He jumps in the [Racing Bulls] car [at the Dutch Grand Prix]. Never driven the car before. Immediately competitive.

"Liam [Lawson] jumps from the Racing Bulls to the Red Bull - immediately competitive. It's because these cars are numb to your driver inputs.

"Of course, yes, you still have to do a good lap. And you still have to commit. The fastest drivers will always come out on top. But it's really, really limited, like a choke hold or something. You're held back."

Max Verstappen won his first race ever in a Red Bull at the 2016 Spanish GP.

Is he saying the 2016 cars were numb to driver input as well?

PILOTS' STATEMENTS ABOUT MADRING ???:

Antonelli: “It's a complicated circuit. There's no margin for error”

Checo: “It’s a bit scary”

Gasly: “In the simulator I crashed into all the walls”

Sainz: “It’s clear that it’s a very difficult circuit. It’s a mix between Jeddah, Baku, and Macao”

Ocon: “It’s a challenging circuit”

Verstappen: “It’s a demanding circuit, it has lots of tricky corners”

Colapinto: “It’s going to be tough for the drivers, we’re going to feel it in our bodies”

“In the simulator, closing out a good lap was almost impossible”

“It HAS BLIND CURVES”

Lindblad: “It was really intense racing in the simulator”

This is one race I'm not in a hurry to wake up and watch. I hope I' wrong, but I foresee a red flag festival. I'd rather watch the replay and fast forward through all that. Like Jeddah 2021.

I think starting from the pitlane might be the play this weekend. Longest pitlane of the season it skips turns 1 & 2. Stay out of trouble at the start and make it to the end and you might be in the points.

George Russell: “When I saw that the F3 had 20 red flags during testing here, I was surprised. After doing some simulator work, I was surprised that there were only 20.”
