Carlos had appendicitis a couple seasons ago and Ollie got his first race in. Other than that it’s been a while since a driver missed a race that I can remember.

I’ve seen a bunch of reports today that they might add a race in Malaysia this season if Qatar and Abu Dhabi get cancelled.

Crazy stat for this season:

Is SA still set to come back?

Would be crazy if it doesn't and both Qatar and Abu drop. Would take us from 24 down to 20 races, which would make it much easier for Kimi to lock it up.

I don’t think the missed races are coming back. There has been rumors of Vegas being the season finale if they can’t add a couple more. I think they are struggling to add on short notice, usually towns pay formula 1 to come, I think they might have to pay to go at this point.

Long way out still, but there are ships being attacked offshore from the track so I'm thinking no one is going to send their teams there.

George just needs a software update and restart to get back to being a good race car driver.

“Las Vegas GP, Liberty Media agree multimillion-dollar settlement over 2023 F1 race

July 23, 2026 4:11 pm EDT  |   Updated

Liberty Media, the commercial rights owner of Formula 1, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix have agreed to a multimillion-dollar settlement to end a class-action lawsuit over the inaugural 2023 race.

They will pay $3,047,986 and individuals who had Thursday-only tickets, or those with three-day tickets, are eligible to receive compensation, whether purchased directly from the defendants or received transferred tickets purchased from the defendants.”

Didn’t know there was a lawsuit out there but hopefully this goes to the fans that were robbed.

A little Déjà vu from the pre season. Aston gonna go right down to the wire putting the car together. I think they might be allowed to break curfew twice a season with no penalty but I’m not sure.

VERY interesting F1TV tech talk this week with Red Bulls former mechanic Calum Nicholas giving some great details about putting the car together and differences between Renault PUs and Honda PUs.
Said Honda’s were all better designed and made more sense.
Newey has got to love that despite their teething issues.

Why does everyone pick on my main man Lance Stroll? He had a podium once at Williams where his dad was just a sponsor.

Stroll just needs a wet race to remind everybody who he is.

Half way thru P1 and the Aston’s seem to have caught up with the back of the pack.

And now stroll has broken down, looked like his suspension collapsed. Took some talent to keep it outta the wall.

Sounds like Newey is back to his Williams/Senna design days

There was a lot of talk at pre season testing about how aggressive the rear suspension was and where it attached to the frame/body. Might have caught up with them today. Didn’t look like lance did anything wrong. All the load went to one tire and that tire broke off.

They have made improvements but they are still gonna struggle.

This morning on my commute to work I saw a sign from the Gods that Aston Martin will have a good weekend (despite the setback they already had with Lance's car). I was driving on a busy commuter route and ended up behind this car: rmsothebys.com/auctions/mo25/lots/r0115-1965-aston-martin-db5/

How do I know it was this specific car? Well, how many copies of a right-hand drive Aston Martin DB5 do you think are in the US? This car spent 50 years in the Bay Area. Although the ownership and location are now murky, it was sold at auction in Monterey and the Bay Area is filled with tech douchebags with unfathomable amounts of money, so it's reasonable to assume that this is the car I saw. It was probably some AI douchebag driving it to work.

It has a mildly interesting history:
It was delivered from the factory with Silver Birch paint.
The original UK owner had it repainted in a burgundy color.
In 1974 a guy in Sunnyvale, CA imported it to the US and kept it for 50 years.
In 2024 he sold it for $373K. Here's the listing: bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-aston-martin-db5/
The new owner had it stripped down and repainted in the original Silver Birch.
He flipped it at the Sotheby's auction for $500K.
