Newey has had many misses in his career but has a reputation as some sort of aero whisperer.

Doesn't really change my opinion on him but I think my opinion of him falls short of being some sort of F1 god and is more around him just a solid technical guy.

Well deserved Lance! Let the haters hate, but we all know you’re one of the best ever. Otherwise, how would you have started in so many races?

Newey is finally putting his touches on this car with all of these advertised updates for this weekend

His reputation will certainly take a hit if this car can’t overtake the Cadillac

Anybody catch the drama from the F2 race this past weekend? Driver was disqualified and fined after the race because his friend in the paddock put on the wrong headset, was told it was wrong, and then did it again.

It was a crap DQ.

From what I read it may have been a bad communication that the team didn't catch and correct.

Knowing the paddock the person may not have spoke English or just not realized what they were doing.

They are very strict on protocols in the paddock

According to the video a scrutineer in the garage told him he couldn’t wear that headset because of the mic and the kid said “it’s chill, the microphone is in the upright position not near my mouth” and put the headset back on right in front of the scrutineer. Sounds like it started as an honest mistake that wasn’t gonna result in any punishment.

That does not sound like an honest mistake at all

That sounds like someone not listening

If that account is accurate, 100% deserves punishment for his guest being a world class jackass.

The official account of the interaction per the stewards document....

quote:

The Stewards noted that the team guest had been approached by a Scrutineer and informed that the headset was not permitted as it was fitted with a microphone. The Scrutineer was advised in response that the microphone was folded upwards. Despite having been specifically advised that the headset was not permitted, the team guest subsequently put the headset back on and continued to use it.

Not that the scrutineer needs to warn the team, but the team was not told about the incident. They are still ultimately responsible though.

To me, if the goal by the scrutineer is to prevent cheating then no doubt a fine is one method. Rectifying the situation and telling a team member would prevent anything nefarious from happening.

The person was warned and made a choice to disregard the orders. Why blame anyone else?

Not blaming anyone else.

Just noting it is shitty for the driver and team that they were punished for someone who was ignorant of the rules/consequence.

Yup, sucks for him.

Should they have told the team principle about the first warning, maybe... should the individual have not put the headset back on after he was told it was illegal, 100%.

That makes sense.

All right you guys, remember to update your prediction lists. They will be locked tonight.

Aston Martin is bringing a full B-spec car to Hungary.
- The changes were extensive enough to require a new crash test for homologation.
- They lost around 30 kg (66 lbs) of weight to bring it closer to the minimum.
- They say they also have spares available so they don't have to be extra careful.
- The simulator suggest 2 seconds of lap time gain.

At Spa, that 2-second gain would bring them about even with... Cadillac.

If you believe in Adrian Newey's genius , you might want to move them ahead of at least Cadillac. But remember, Honda is not bringing a PU upgrade until after the summer break at the Dutch GP.

Really hope we figure out a way to do predictions locked after FP3 next year, if you even want to do it again next year.

The uncertainties like this make it a crap shoot in pick em.

One thing I was thinking earlier is we haven't had a main driver out in a long while. We had a stint for a while of people going down and its been at least a year.
