FIA has determined that RBR has the best IC Power Unit on the grid and will get nothing, and will like it

Sky Sports News has seen the document which states Mercedes are more than two per cent behind Red Bull's power unit, so will be given one engine upgrade this year, while Ferrari, Audi and Honda will be given two upgrades as they are deemed to be more than four per cent adrift of Red Bull.
As the benchmark power unit manufacturer, Red Bull, who are making their own engine for the first time in F1, will not receive an engine upgrade.

So much for the "best engine will dominate this formula" quote

What good is engine power when electrics and computers decide the winners

Apparently Red Bulls need to fix their fricking cars.

Man I have seen some stupid statements in the past on a whole lot of things, but this might be the dumbest thing in this entire thread.
if you really believe this then you should see yourself out of the F1 thread.

100% believe he fricked up the start and broke the engine/pu. Maybe just sent it into safe mode or something. You can see him get full power before turn 1 once the field clears and the overrides stop. No way he busted the pu and they said just keep driving it.
Maybe RBR gave him a whack start procedure, I could believe that.
Sounds the exact same as his China start.

Yup, best ICE on the grid but shitty Turbos and Batteries.
I’d bet Ferrari has best Turbos
Merc likely isn’t top of any of the 3, just consistently 2nd across the board equaling dominance

Did you not hear the audio of him and GP during the formation lap? So your logic is he basically didn't want to race from his best position ,at home, so he started complaining during formation and then blew the start?
Or just maybe, the engine had issues he reported during formation and he couldn't get off the line.
Which one is more logical?

There was no talking on the formation lap. The FIA would be interested if you have this audio though.
He said afterwards that the engine felt off but on the start and buildup everything was fine.
Maybe he is covering his arse because the FIA would be pretty ticked if he knowingly had an engine problem and went to the grid. His warmup lap seemed fine from the on-board.

hard to beat Ford engineering. Just need to get the reliability thing down.

Dunno what was before, but this was once he was sitting on the grid waiting. Def doesn't sound right.

The RB chassis must be really bad

Ford supplied the battery’s, not the motor

Well they were like 14kg overweight back in China from those Paddock pics of the scales. I’m assuming they were able to cut that since they’ve been more competitive recently.

They came out and said that wasn't the true weight, but countered with some "balance" issue that was the cause.
They do seem like they have gotten their issues sorted a lot better the last few weekends. Spain may be a good purpose built track that could show some different teams and advantage. China and Japan are the two truly non-road circuits we have seen this year.

That is not correct. Ford has been involved with every aspect of the design and development. The entire power unit is labeled as a "technical partnership." Ford is involved in almost every aspect and even has facilities being used for part production.
