I remember Tim Fedewa from the old Busch series. Probably had a few Cup starts, too.

Hocevar is barely 22 years old and is trying to make a name for himself, he sort of reminds me of Ernie Irvan when he first got into a competitive car, he was sometimes an unguided missile before he settled down. And there are still probably some old line NASCAR folks and especially in the old line media who hate Irvan to this day for nearly killing Neil Bonnett at Darlington in 1990 because of a stupid move on the track. You get everyone pissed off at you where they won’t work with you, you’re in a world of hurt. Maybe he’ll settle down.

Sometimes, the cars are so equal, the good drivers can't get away from the bad drivers.

And Hocevar apologizes to Hendricks and Larson - WTF is that about!!! Because he owes Hendricks/ Larson a push instead of racing for the win on the last lap? Hendricks is such a problem for NASCaR among all the other issues.

He's Ross Chastain on steroids. A shitload of talent but he needs to reign it in a little.
Irvin comp is a good one.

Atlanta separates the good from the bad more than Dega and Daytona b/c handling comes into play.
This track fricks.

That's 2 probable, 1 maybe
If we have to hold.off till next February that's fine. I prefer the summer race though. Warmer and more conducive to tailgating/just hanging out.

I haven’t been in years but Atlanta was always my favorite track to cover races at. Plus I got to see my personal all-time favorite driver, BP, win in 1984.

Someone on a racing board I post at compared Hocevar to Nuke La Loosh.

Wasn't Ervin also involved in Bobby Allison's final crash?
Posted on 2/23/25 at 8:27 pm to FightinTigersDammit
No that was a dude named Jocko Maggiacomo.
Posted on 2/23/25 at 8:31 pm to FightinTigersDammit
And it really wasn’t Jocko’s fault although he’s caught s**t about it for close to 40 years. Bobby had a tire going down on the first lap and was just trying to nurse his car around to the pits, but the tire blew and it shot Bobby’s car back up the track and into Jocko’s path and he T-boned Bobby.

I thought Irvan was involved.
Jocko didn't make a lot of Cup starts. He was mostly a modified driver.

I went back and watched the video of that race on YouTube, and Ernie was in about a 10-car wreck in that race, but it was after 12 laps, Bobby and Jocko didn’t even make it through the first lap. And it wasn’t Ernie’s fault, Dave Marcis blew an engine in front of him and coated the track with oil, and it of course caused a mess.
