Andretti had the chance to have three cars in the top ten had Herta's fuel guy decided to do his one job. Great to see Coyne and ECR with a top ten finish.

I remember when Dale Coyne was driving a year-old car with a Chevy stock-block in the CART series.
He's come a long way.

1.41M viewers for St Pete… 45% YoY increase
If Fox can deliver consistent ratings between 1-1.5m viewers for non Indy 500 races the sport will experience a true renaissance

Good viewership numbers for what was a good race. Kinda hate that they are taking three weeks off right after the first race of the season tho. Thermal is a real points race this year isn’t it?
Posted on 3/4/25 at 3:49 pm to MississippiLebowski
I hope Thermal doesn't run anybody off. It's not a great track. Maybe with some better ratings they can get back to Watkins Glen soon.

I don't think we have given Thermal a real chance ...last year's Exhibition race format sucked.
We need more warm weather dates, it's not perfect but I'll take it until we can do a proper Latin American Swing after St Pete.... Mexico and Brazil

Mexico should be very doable. Logistics aren’t bad and the time zone is good for tv.

12 Hours of Sebring coming up. Anyone going should bring sunscreen. I got a nice sunburn last year.
Qualifying is on YouTube & IMSATV. Race coverage is only on Peacock. I am hoping that either the 6 or 7 takes it but Acura and BMW made Daytona interesting. Cadillac Where Y'at?

This is an Indycar thread, take the IMSA crap elsewhere

This is a thread for Indycar and IMSA. They're the top-levels of both open-wheel and sports cars in North America and their fans on this message board often overlap.
The 12 Hours of Sebring will see the debut of the Aston Martin Valkyrie GTP car with its incredible sounding V10 engine.

*V12 engine in the Aston
I’m excited to see how they do. They had a tough go of it last week in the WEC Qatar 1812km. One car finished 23 laps behind the winner and the other only finished 181 of the 318 laps.
I am a fan of the blue livery they will run in IMSA.

The V12. You're right.
They had a door blow clean off a Valkyrie at the Qatar race.

"We don't need stinking doors"

Totally the drivers fault. I don’t know what caused it to pop open and I get it’s a race, but when your door is pointing at the sky acting like a sail, you should probably slow down just a little ha

12 Hours of Sebring coming up.
I'm sitting at Turn 17 at SIR as I read this.
There's lots of good racing coming up here in the next week and a half. I'm very disappointed that the 12 Hours will only be on Peacock. I just don't get it. The marketing people at this track just plain suck.
I'll be at the track all 4 days for the 12 Hours. If anybody wants to hook up and have a beer or two or more, post something in this thread.
Please keep both Indycar, IMSA and WEC in this thread regardless of what one knuckle dragger says.
BTW, I did check out the Indy car testing here for a couple hours. There was really nothing remarkable to post about. All the good info of substance was posted on the Internet anyway.

IMSA is not a top level series when the top GTP drivers cant get a good Indycar or if they do, are relegated to backmarkers- Colin Braun, Tom Blomqvist. Not to mention half the remaining field is comprised of gentlemen drivers (amateurs). The skill level is barely higher than Porsche Super Cup or Ferrari Challenge
Cool- they have alot of OEM support at the present, but just like during the Class C and ALMS era, the OEM's will get tired of the unsustainable budgets required for a series with a micro niche following and sports car racing will experience another collapse into obscurity.

IMSA is such a top level series, Indycar's elite drivers (Palou, Dixon, Newgarden, Herta, McLaughlin) beg to drive a GTP or even an LMP2 at Daytona and Petit Le Mans or at other events.
Moving on - man, I hope Herta can recover from this SNAFU. He has already burned one of his “worst finishes” if he wants to win a title. Same is true for Willy Power. Dixon has also on a second engine already, so an engine penalty is definitely coming.
