Eh. Women are shoehorned into men’s sports for political reasons and we all know it. And no matter how much they push the Academy this will always be a men’s sport.

Jesus Christ. Can we keep politics out of the one fricking thread on this whole site where people avoid politics? Even the travel board is becoming infested.

The women that comment on F1 know their shite. Bernie Collins has forgotten more about auto racing than you’ll ever know.

All right, the TD F1 Championship results are in!

dg42.net/TDF1/race-results.php?race=15

The winner of the TD F1 Dutch Grand Prix is 1999 with his first win and first podium of the season! 1999 hasn't updated his prediction list since the Austrian GP at the end of June, but it paid off!

The podium is filled out by busbeepbeep in P2 for his second podium, and gatorhater08 in P3 for his fourth podium.

The winning score, 396.4 points, was almost as low as the Chinese GP, where winner ephidelt541 scored 394.2 points amid three cars getting DQ'd! This time it was three top cars DNFing.

Here's the championship table: dg42.net/TDF1/index.php?table=full

sorantable was out of the points in the race, and his lead over P2 has shrunk from 28 points to 20 points.

pitstop is holding tight to P2 in the championship with a P6 race finish.

gatorhater08 is back in business, rising from P5 to P3 after scoring a podium finish.

Championship leader sorantable is still the only player with five podiums. pitstop and gatorhater08 have four podiums.

jefforize, TouchedTheAxeIn82, VABuckeye, Grassy1, theone, and ephidelt541 have three podiums each.

Grassy1 and theone were both out of the points. They, along with pitstop have scored points in 10 of the first 15 races.

eh, not as long as Sky keeps putting Danica out there on occasion. I like Bernie's commentary a lot though.

Sound like the Colton Herta to F2 next year announcement is imminent. Prema racing so he should have a really good team/car to get him to F1.

His trolling game would fit F1 well.

Perez and Bottas already on the hot seat.
Also, he has a contract until 2027.

FiA mostly protecting their brand these days.

Also, there is plenty of history as to why there needs to be a qualifying system for drivers.

There has always been one. Rules have changed over the years.

The points earning element is recent. 15 years or so.

There was a superlicense in the 60s?

Until the 90s you pretty much just had to buy the license to compete. The FIA could prevent you from buying one if they wanted, or make it financially unattainable. There weren't any restrictions such as time testing or having to earn points.

Back then a rich guy could buy a car and team, buy entry into the races and mess up everyone's afternoon. The big safety push brought in a lot of restrictions other than money.

I don't disagree a system is needed, I just disagree with how they assign points. For example, top 3 in F2 get enough points to qualify, but only the winner of Indy does? And driving an F3 is equal to a hypercar?

That's the protecting the brand part that most people don't like. The FIA want to keep the lower series' viable and this is a good way to do it.

Getting your super license via Indy racing isn't that hard. Finish 3rd 2 years in a row and you get it. Finish 2nd and drive some free practice sessions in F1 and you can get in.

I thought Herta had enough points in the past, but he hasn't finished high enough in Indy to maintain the points.

It's protecting the European junior leagues and junior teams. Kind of a captive closed shop. 5th place in F2 gives you 20 toward the 40. 5th place in Indycar gives you only 8. By the time you accumulate enough points in Indycar, most are older and don't want to make the jump. Scotty Dixon would have been a great F1 driver with his ability to manage tires but now he's too old.

If this is accurate, there should be 0 complaints. You should have to be that good to get a shot at F1.

That was the best race of the season imo. Just as far as entertainment value. Sainz getting screwed as usual, should have been a P5.

I think the announcers response might have been even better.

"Yea, well It's at least top five most ridiculous thing."

Still kind of baffled how they came to that conclusion.
