All right, just two days until the predictions are locked out for the Austrian GP.
Here's last year's qualifying:
formula1.com/en/results/2024/races/1239/austria/qualifying
Last year's race result isn't exactly representative of the order of the cars, since Max and Lando had a "coming together" moment or two. If Max gets pole this weekend, I think we can expect more of the same, though he may be fighting with Oscar this time.

Is this still at the Osterreichring?

A1 Ring.
The Osterreichring was obviously the longer, cooler version of the track. I liked driving it in racing sims in 1970's F1 cars.

It'll always be the O-ring to me.

Going to see the F1 movie tonight with the lady. Her idea. Not expecting anything great other than the company. Should be fun at least from what I've read about it visually.

Should be cool to see the action on the big screen at the very least.

I think it will be a fun movie. Every football movie has unrealistic hits and every baseball player has a washed up 50 year old throwing gas and winning the big game.
It's Hollywood not a documentary so Im expecting a crash with a fire and unrealistic ability of the F1 car.

General News over the past few days:
1. Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur is pleased with their progress following all of their setbacks throughout the year. This comes after Vasseur called out the upper management of Ferrari following the Canadian Grand Prix. John Elkann is expected to comment. Fred Vasseur still doesn't have a contract in place for 2026 onwards amidst continuing pressure from the top brass.
Secondly, Ferrari is bringing minor upgrades for the SF-25 to the Austrian GP, but the major suspension upgrade will arrive at Silverstone.
2. Mercedes is aiming for an announcement with George Russell's contract situation at Silverstone. Additionally, Mercedes will be bringing upgrades for the Austrian GP to capitalize on their success at the Canadian GP.
3. Pirelli admits problems with the C6 tire compound (Soft) aims to provide more speed, durability for next year. Pirelli will currently stand by its C6 compound, blames teams for not unlocking its full potential. Future races may change their opinion.
4. Alex Dunne will drive for Lando Norris for FP1 in Austria due to the rookie rule requiring teams to deploy a rookie driver twice per car during a free practice session.
5. Valtteri Bottas does an interesting video with a Cadillac, possibly hinting / implying Bottas to Cadillac for 2026, being it is Bottas it could also be a troll.
6. Vettel confirms early talks with Red Bull for a non-driver role.

Post-Mercedes Bottas quickly became one of my favorite drivers, he seemed to loosen up and just seems like he'd be fun to be around.
Here's the video that sparked the rumor/troll by him...

*Oh wow, that's actually a nice seat, I wouldn't mind.
**And there's two seats...
*And they're both free?
**Want to sit in it?
*Not yet
Also of note, F1's official social media pages have been posting an odd amount of Danny Ricc highlights/content. Seems really odd considering he's retired and they don't ever really feature past drivers. Perhaps hinting at a Danny Ricc return?

I don't venture to the theaters often, but I'm going to try and catch this in theaters. I like loud, fast cars. Should be fun to see it in a theater. I don't have any problem turning off my believability for a couple hours. My only issue is I wish it wasn't as long so that I could take my son. 2 1/2 hours in a theater is stretching it for a 7 year old.

A combo of Danny / Bottas in an actual American team would make me a huge fan. Daniel's past comments on his love for the US anthem and Bottas having a mullet would be perfect.

Danny Ric is a DTS fan-favorite. I wouldn't be surprised if he's on Liberty's payroll to help promote things.

Him and Paul Ripke make some of the best content.
They put together the whole "What's Next" and almost everything that has Bottas bare-assed.

I think part of his contract with Mercedes disallows him from doing any bare assed content while employed by them
The whole What's Next? series was pretty great and was bummed that it eventually resulted in a Mercedes reserve role. Marketing the What's Next sweaters as going to charity to help those affected by sudden job loss when he got cut was gold. He seems like a fun dude, DTS should've featured him more. Random cycling side quest, crushing taco eating records, a killer mullet.

Movie was so-so. Pretty predictable but entertaining for the most part.

Wait for streaming type movie?

Yeah, definitely for me anyway. I'll never watch it again. Everything is just kind of forgettable.
