24h of Nürburgring going on right now. You'll need to VPN through somewhere in Europe. LINK. 136 cars started with 23 classes. The top class is doing 8:14s on the full course in race pace. Unreal. I'm lucky if I get 8:40 on ACC.

And it's a red flag because the main pit lane building has lost power. Last year was fog. This year is power.

Palau was almost signed to Williams

Palou almost went to Williams in 2025. I am glad he didn’t because the only teams worthy of his talent and to justify a switch from breaking records in INDYCAR is Ferrari, McLaren (bridge has been nuked) , Mercedes or Red Bull.

I believe he’s a championship contender in too equipment in F1

Throwing shade at an ever improving Williams while Ferrari is a perennial dumpster fire

But yeah, I'd rather see Palou in Indy right now. Much more fun to watch him there. He's a really good example of having the talent but not the money to get to F1.

It’s not easy to describe how small these two cars are. Gille’s car is from 1981. The year before he passed.

I thought it might be a prototype, but I didn't recall a white one. The 499 is a beast.

The museum was amazing. Next time I’ll go to the museum in Maranello.

Anyone know this one? No name on it.

Uhh, which museum is that?

FYI, The Ferrari 641/2 is the only racing car that is part of NY MOMA's permanent collection. Not sure this is the best way to display it, but I guess it is to see its overall form, rather than think of it as a car.

Don't know the exact year, but early to mid 2000's. One of the F2000's.

I think the F2003-GA? it had those same gill vents.

ETA: Confirmed. F2003-GA. The wiki has a picture of it at that same museum. LINK

My best childhood friend works at MoMA and she sent me this last fall when she helped transport it. Her job is to go all over the world and load artwork and then watch it through all phases of logistics.

She did not get in. I guess she likes her job or something.

Very cool. I wonder if there is a lot of stress over transporting extremely valuable works of art.

Oh, speaking of sititng in an F1 car, years ago my brother and I went to the Monterey Historics when Lotus was the featured marque. Lots of Lotus F1 cars were on display. A rich Japanese man owned a 1985 and 1986 Lotus driven by Senna, and I think both were race-winning chassis. The Japanese guy noticed my brother inspecting the 1986 car's cockpit, so he asked if my brother wanted to sit in it. My brother is 5'7" and was probably around 150 lbs, just kind of average build. The cockpit was extremely cramped. It didn't look like my brother would have been able to drive the car. Senna is listed as 5'9" and around 150 lbs. So I don't know how he could have driven it. But yeah these cars are built to fit the star driver on the team. Oh and that reminds me, I remember 1995 when Mansell joined McLaren but couldn't fit in the car, so he had to sit out a couple of races while McLaren made a fat chassis that he could fit in.

The cockpit on that Mansel car in my photos looked incredibly tight.

They had a Sainz helmet in the gift shop. I didn’t even look at or ask the price. It was under glass.
