Did Curtis Tunner catch the AIDS or get kicked out of NASCAR for using banned substances?
Yet another gem hired by Rick Hendricks....

No but he partied all night long and would show up at the race the next day hung over and without any sleep and probably smelling of the essence of the multiple women he’d screwed and get behind the wheel of his car wearing his coat and tie and run up front.
This stuff …and drivers living hard … didn’t start in the 1980s.
David Pearson probably got more poon than Tim Richmond did over the years, he had the reputation as the horniest guy in NASCAR, he just didn’t do it in Hollywood like Richmond did. Although the tale floated around behind the scenes in media circles, take it as you will, zero clue as to the validity because i wasn’t there, that Tim … who I was a MASSIVE fan of BTW … actually got AIDS because even though he could have screwed anyone in Hollywood or the entertainment or glamour worlds, and did a lot of them, he had a secret off the beaten path fetish for whores, the scuzzier the better.

Looks like Dale Jr. is making an attempt to get the trademark to the DEI #8.
Apparently Teresa already let the DEI #15 trademark expire. Michael Waltrip took ownership of the #15 trademark.

The woman lost her husband. I can give her slack for that. But she also seemed to have lost her damn mind and turned against racing. I don’t think that’s what Dale would have wanted.

She single-handedly destroyed DEI, and thusly, Dale's legacy to Junior and Kelley. She had no business running that organization.
I can give her a pass for that but the way she treated Junior and Kelley and how she completely trashed her husband's legacy is unforgivable.
frick her.

Dale should have stipulated that Kelley be in charge of running the thing. But I wonder if the male chauvinist in him … I am not criticizing him mind you, just noting that he was a man of his particular time and place … prevented that.
Just like Lesa France Kennedy should be running NASCAR, she’s the only one of Bill Jr.’s offspring who has the sense God gave an amoeba, but that will never happen.

I'm thinking about doing something stupid and starting dirt racing

I saw Brakehard's YT video a couple of weeks ago showing that the #1 trademark had been submitted for renewal months ago, and was still pending review. Did that get denied?
He speculated that Theresa was all over the #1 renewal because she doesn't like Ty Norris and didn't want Trackhouse to try doing any throwback stuff with it. Still weird that she'd let the #8 trademark lapse though.

I think you’re right about the #1. It’s just the #15 that expired. She probably won’t let the #1 expire because Ty Norris and Trackhouse would get it. She still holds a grudge against Ty Norris.
As far as I know, Teresa/whatever is left of the DEI entity don’t use these trademarks for anything anymore. The DEI shop used to be a museum with a gift shop, but I think they closed during COVID and have never been reopened. I don’t know if she is even making anything from these trademarks anymore, so if she continues to hold them it has to just be because of personal grudges.

Yeah, but Kelley probably wasn’t ready for that responsibility at that time, so the thought never crossed Dale Sr.’s mind. Plus, I think Dale was fairly close to retiring at the time that he passed away, so I think he expected to be leading DEI long-term.
I will say this about Teresa. Dale’s death put her in an awful situation. I have no doubt that she loved Dale and truly did want to protect his legacy. However, she held on too tight and didn’t trust anyone. Without Dale, she didn’t trust Dale Jr, Kelley or Kerry. By 2007, they were ready to hold a part of Dale’s legacy (DEI) but she just wouldn’t give it to them. She saw them as adversaries. It’s sad. I don’t think she ever wanted to be the leader of DEI, but she also wouldn’t trust the other people who could have led it like Dale Jr and Kelley.

Kelley had already started to display her business acumen by then. But I see where you're going and I don't disagree.
But Teresa should have given Junior/Kelley 51% ownership. Had she done that, DEI would still be in business today IMO w/Kelley at the helm of the business side and Junior and/or maybe Ty Norris running the racing side. Me and you both know Kelley's business acumen and how strong it is.

This is fair.

Good video on the situation.
Wonder if we’ll ever see JRM in Cup.

He is absolutely right. But again, he’s really stepped in it with the folks in the home office in Daytona by saying that and don’t be surprised if he catches some grief from them.
