He made a case and then contradicted it by saying Berry and Gragson have matched or beaten his top 5’s/top 10s.
This has to be a case of Kroger saying who they want and ford telling Brad he can’t have Zane. It sounds like ford does not want Zane Smith to return. Which is a bit odd.

Have fun.
Drove past there last night on the way home. Out front is more full than it's been in recent years.

One thing to note about the Preece/Kroger/RFK thing, Kroger is going to RFK, not being brought by Preece.
Sponsorship being loyal to the team, not the driver, is worth paying attention to. Rock on down the road a couple years, and if the performance isn’t there, Preece is gone, but not the sponsorship.
Gives Ford a couple years to get their shite together pipeline wise, or pluck a high performer out of the Chevy/Toyota XFinity crop (see Berry to SHR).

I think Preece would be a stopgap. Kroger does allow RFK to be able to shop. Ford does need to build that farm system. It’s abysmal.
I do think the long term play is Cam Waters from Australian Supercars. He’s admitted to wanting to come to nascar full time.

For the real old-timers and people interested in racing history, Paul Goldsmith died today at 98.
He won 9 NASCAR Grand National races (including the final race on the old Daytona beach course), drove all the way up until 1969; 26 USAC stock car races (back in the days when that was a pretty stout circuit); and had two top-fives in the Indianapolis 500 (and until today was the oldest living Indy competitor).
Before he started racing cars, he was a champion motorcycle racer, winning four AMA races back in the 1950s including one at the Daytona Beach course.
He was one of the first drivers to fly his own plane, and after he retired from racing he became a commercial pilot, a trainer of commercial pilots, had an airplane engine repair business and owned an airport.
He was an absolute badass. RIP.

Dang. If you had asked, I would have thought he was long dead.

Infield is pretty full already. Lots of camping outside. Hopefully there’s a good crowd. Night one was a success. Don’t remember past 10

Could a Kyle Busch Hendrick reunion happen?
This would make me not hate Hendrick quite as much. KB is one of the best drivers of our generation and there's ) argument against that. Sucked to see him pushed out of JGR like that.

It's ALWAYS sucked. They throw what little farm system dollars they're spending at the wrong drivers for the wrong reasons. Look at the money they wasted on Hallie Deegan and she couldn't drive a wooden peg up a goats arse.
Then they turn around and get out bid for drivers that they did develop. Most people forget Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne were brought up driving Fords.

Gordon had a deal with Bill Davis to race Busch, and then Cup, but Gordon left for Hendrick

Logano wins.
You can tell by how few posts there were in this thread today that football is back.

Bengals sucked and will be 0-2 after next weekend so I’ll probably be in these threads by myself
