As long as he has been driving this is actually his sports car debut.
"Rexy" the #77 911 is back on top of GTD-Pro for the moment,
The paint makes Rexy look like an Aston with just a glimpse of the front end.

When he recently tried to get the 2008 F1 championship results overturned, I thought it was ridiculous to bring it up now. But as I read about why he was acting now (because Bernie revealed that he and Max knew about the situation sooner than people had previously thought, but chose to bury it), I came around and now I'm on his side. Massa is the 2008 F1 champion.
On the other hand, frick that guy. He disparaged IndyCar as not doing as much as F1 to improve safety (after a big crash at Pocono in 2018). That was a ridiculous thing to say. Oval racing will always be more dangerous than anything in F1, but that's just the style of racing; improvements are always being made. IndyCar has been as much of leader in improving safety standards as the FIA/F1. There are a ton of examples, but here are some highlights:
1. IndyCar doctors Steve Olvey and Terry Trammell worked with the FIA for decades innovating safety and sharing data between IndyCar and F1.
2. IndyCar mandated the HANS device before F1. This is probably the most important safety innovation of the last 40 years, and it was developed in America, and pushed hard by inventor Robert Hubbard (at Michigan State) and racer Jim Downing for over 10 years before it gained traction.
3. The IndyCar windscreen, while it looks bad, is safer than the F1 halo. The IndyCar windscreen actually is a halo, with the addition of the windscreen. The F1 halo would not have stopped the spring that almost took out Massa's eye. So why isn't Massa promoting the windscreen for F1?

Then don't drive them.
I'm really tired of the safety safety safety bullshite that is making the cars ponderous tanks.
So many of these drivers expect there to be no risk in driving a racing car at 200+MPH and it's ridiculous.
No one wants to admit it, but frankly the insane risks drivers took 50 years ago was a big part of the draw for the fans in the stands.

Rexy is sweet. It was my favorite ride last year in IMSA.

There is really some good racing going on and at least in GTP and GTDP there are at least 5 cars with a solid chance to win. 13.5 hours left.
Posted on 1/28/24 at 1:50 am to b-rab2
13 hours in and in GTP 5 cars are within 5 seconds of the lead and 3 cars within 1.6 seconds.

Rexy stops in for a quick visit to the dentist.

Suns up and there is a pitched battle for the GTP (and overall) lead. Caddy vs Porsche. 6 hours left.

Looks like some weather may be coming in.

Great battle in GTD

Risi Competizione pulling away from the GTD Pro field. One of the #1 BMW drivers interviewed sounded pretty demoralized.

USA network went to Law & Order.
Guide shows NBC has it on.
My NBC is showing Kids News.
Thanks for nothing, whoever is in charge at the local NBC station.
ETA: YoutubeTV.

My nbc was some shitty program.
I just put the nbcsports app on and it's fine.
