Wonder if this means Haas will have an actual pit strategy or will those who called it remain in their jobs?

GS needed to go a few years ago. But I liked him as for a likeable and funny person. He also did a ton of work to get the first cars out and top 10 in Australia that first year. But the past years have been a mess and lots of fans (right or wrong) blame him for Shumaker not doing well.

I hope he can do some time in the booth. Maybe some cameo appearances at least.

Damn x 2. I hope losing a polarizing character doesn't impact sponsorship.

While Moneygram might like him, I can also see where a lot of sponsors would want nothing to do with him.

also Ayao might bring in a sponsor or two. He is originally from Japan and they love him over there. Not saying its gonna be a huge sponsor but a little is better than nothing.

Three or four little sponsors equal one big one.

Moneygram is $30M/year iirc.

The team says that Komatsu will be responsible for the team’s strategy and on-track performance. In a statement, it noted that he will have “a brief to maximise the team’s potential through employee empowerment and structural process and efficiency.”

This guy is so screwed.

Ayao Komatsu

I had to look this guy up, never heard of him. Seeing his name I assumed he probably came to F1 working for Honda, but nope, he graduated from a UK university in Automotive Engineering and later got a PhD in Vehicle Dynamics and Control. His first F1 job was with BAR (Honda-related) but he quickly moved on to Renault and later Haas. This is the most interesting thing I read about him:

quote:

(At Renault/Lotus) After Mark Slade departed at the commencement of the 2011 season (Komatsu) was promoted to Petrov's race engineer, working with the Russian for one year before partnering up with the returning Grosjean for 2012. The Frenchmen and Komatsu formed a close bond, scoring nine podium finishes and even fought for race wins at the end of 2013.

Nine podium finishes over two seasons (2012-2013) including two P2 finishes, and four podium finishes in the last six races of 2013. Compared to Grosjean's later years, it feels like Komatsu was a miracle worker, an F1 driver-whisperer.

His sense of humor on the show will be greatly missed.

Gene isn't going to just give the TP an open checkbook. Dude is investing a ton of money every year. If hes not getting results/progress, more money doesn't fix the issue. There was a problem in leadership/design. If they were consistent and showing progress, they'd have more money due to sponsors. You cant rely on just gene to fund it. I believe i even saw a stat, that besides redbull, Gene has spent the most money out of all the majority owners since he joined in 2016. So obviously there is more than just money. They had the ability to spend up to the cap this past season and they brought 1 upgrade that didn't work. Wouldn't say that is Genes fault.

Yeah. I'm a Netflix baby, so he's definitely someone I'll miss seeing at the tracks.

Can someone school me on tickets?

After viewing the schedule, I realized that my daughter's school is only 65 miles from Silverstone, and my daughter will be finishing about 2 weeks after the race. This might be do-able.

I'm thinking we'd try to do Saturday Qualifying and Sunday race, or maybe just Sunday race.

Thoughts? Want to investigate before mentioning to my gf or daughter.

F1 site only sells tickets for the full weekend. You’ll have to buy aftermarket if you want individual days. The Brits are fricking nuts over F1 so they won’t be cheap.

0% chance he would ever sell to Andretti. He would go bankrupt before even considering.
