Anyone else feel like Ferrari starts the season with a strong car but their upgrades suck?

It's really hard to be a Williams fan some days. Today is one of those days.

The floor was too wide, is that something they can fix before the race starts without jeopardizing their aero package?

A reasonable question, but he's starting last and it's hard to pass your way up the order at Zandvoort, so it probably doesn't matter much.

Hamilton was also given a 3-spot grid penalty for impeding during qualy. I saw the replay and I thought it was just bad timing. So here is the revised grid:

formula1.com/en/results/2024/races/1243/netherlands/starting-grid

These two grid penalties are intriguing to me because I closely follow the mid-field battle. While Aston Martin has been disappointing this year, Alonso has managed to steer well clear of the riff-raff of the bottom five teams with 49 points. Because Stroll sucks, he is in the muck with the guys battling to lead the bottom five teams, so it's between these three guys:

Stroll 24 pts
Hulkenberg 22 pts
Tsunoda 22 pts

With the grid penalties, the grid order is now:

Stroll P8
Yuki P11
Hulk P12

I love it! Yuki and Hulk now have a better chance to score points and get some separation. I would prefer that they both beat Stroll, but the Aston Martin is a better car so it's just a matter of how much Stroll wants to suck tomorrow. I root for both Yuki and Hass/Hulk, so I'm not necessarily happy that they are battling each other, but still I love watching the mid-field action.

That’s wild. I didn’t think he impeded him at all. Seemed like Perez was being a bitch about it ahead of time and should have just kept on.

Not a lot of practicing going on before this race with the weather and red flags.

Poor Williams for sure.

Marko was saying that Liam would be in a car in September wasn’t he?

Sargeant's FP3 crash was monstrous and I can't believe what a disappointment this season has been for the only American driver on the grid - he was never ready

Let's see Herta or another US driver take a shot at a seat with Andretti

Is Sargeant going to race tomorrow? He didn’t participate in qualifying.

I think he will. Don’t they give them a mulligan in instances like that?

As long as the driver demonstrated that he was up to speed in one of the practice sessions, he will be allowed to race "at the steward's discretion."

If a driver is injured in practice, a replacement driver will have the opportunity to demonstrate speed in another practice session or qualy, like when Danny Ric was injured in practice last year. If a driver is injured in qualy, like Lance Stroll in Q1 at Singapore last year, the driver can't be replaced because there are no more sessions for a replacement to demonstrate speed.

He’s about to be pulled from the seat, hopefully replaced by Lawson.

Does he have a super license? Would hope so given disciplines, if not get him an extension and let's roll. William's is already locked down for next season so let's throw down for a few races. Too bad tech offset would be massive.

Lots of rumors on who it would be. Lawson, Antonelli, Schumacher.

Excited for this race start. Let's see if Lando bottles it.
